Did an X-Men double feature. Last night I rewatched Days of future past and this morning First Class. Love them both. Really like what they´ve don to the franchise.  What are your opinions?

I love those two movies. Maybe I'm biased because Jennifer Lawrence looks so good in blue. However, I'm also a huge fan of Fassbender as Magneto, so I think the movie is filled with win.

Ditto. Still haven't seen Apocolypse yet.

Me neither. It's on my computer; it has been since before it came out. I just never sat down to watch it.

Seven Year Itch - Meh

You didn't like it? It has been a while since I saw it but I always enjoy it when I do catch it on television.

I didn't not like it. It was just meh. The guy narrating the entire movie in real time got really annoying after a while and I just didn't like Monroe in this film at all. Maybe it's because I had just watched Natalie Wood and Audrey Hepburn, but Monroe did nothing for me at all but come off as the type of woman I'd quickly walk away from at a social gathering.

There were funny parts though, for sure. His fantasy at the piano was hilarious.

I can see how Monroe would be a letdown after watching Natalie Wood and Audrey Hepburn. The latter is one of my favorite actresses of all time. I think her acting is far superior to Monroe's. I think she's far more beautiful that Monroe and that's saying a lot because Monroe is gorgeous. Though Monroe was much prettier before the makeover. I'll take Roman Holiday over Seven Year Itch any day.

Just re-watched Inception.

So he can't go to the United states to be with his kids. So why not just bring the kids to Europe where the Grandfather seems to already be living. I didn't think about that the first time I watched it. Maybe I'm missing something

I'm almost certain there's a line in the film that explains it. I'll have to re-watch it.

Cobb mentions that extradition from France is a pain, and then Michael Caine's characters says something along the lines of "I think they'd make an exception in your case," so I think he's kinda perpetually on the run.

Inception is still sweet non the less. Its not a huge deal, just crossed my mind. But anyway, I just watched The Others for the first time ever.

Now, this thing was huge back in the day, and the twist was spoiled long ago. But despite that, The Others was really decent

The Looking Glass

It's a very touching movie, tugging at your heartstrings. The young actress' name is Grace Tarnow. I don't think she has ever done anything else before but I do hope to see more from her, especially with that beautiful voice of hers. She's someone who can be successful as not only an actress but also a singer.

The new Ghostbusters is so good! I'm really not sure why there's so much hate out there, but from what I understand a lot of it is men who are butthurt over the fact that the stars are women and haven't even seen the movie. *shrug*
It's not perfect but it's hilarious, the actors did an awesome job, the effects are great... I had no idea two hours had just passed, it was such a blast.

The controversy surrounding Ghostbusters has given it a publicity it would not have had if it was a brand new movie.

I hate the stupid " If you hate this film you hate women " bullshit.

A shit film can just be a shit film.

I'm against it purely because it's just another pointless remake.

To me it was way too soon after the Sixth Sense to really appreciate the twist. However, considering I really don't like Kidman in general, she was great in that movie. Also, the atmosphere and some of the scary moments were both quite good and I remember the movie even now, about 9 years after I've seen it last.

Before it opened, all we had were the trailers, which quite simply made the film look like shit.  There's no other way to describe it.  So that, along with the fact that it's a remake of a film that many people love, and the fact that they decided to cast all females in the lead roles, combined and had a lot of people saying "What the fuck?  Pointless remake, sucks the big one, all female stunt casting, etc."  That helped build the controversy and hype, but also built up some prejudice that will be hard to overcome.

It was a fun movie.  Was it great?  No but it was fun to watch.  The only part that bothered me was the concert scene.  That band was not metal. The vocals were very weird and you could tell it wasn't a live recording.

There were some great one liners and the girls were fun to watch.  They were very funny and carried the movie.

:lol, yeah, that "metal" band was terrible, but whatever.

Orbert- I'm not sure how the casting can be defined as "all-female stunt casting." Can you explain that? Also, why is the female thing a problem at all? It's a fun and different take on the movie- nobody wants a shot for shot remake. And all of the leads were great.
My question still stands- if you haven't seen it, how can you say it's bad? Since when is a trailer grounds for a full verdict on a film? So what if the trailers sucked? Many of them do. And that's why I don't often watch them (that or they give the whole plot away).
I'm honestly wondering if most of the ratings it's received online are from people who have even seen the movie or are just, like you said, prejudiced against it and want to see it suffer. If so, that's sad.

My use of "all-female stunt casting" is just meant to conveniently mush together a couple of concepts that are going on simultaneously.  To me, "stunt casting" is whenever you specifically cast somebody for a part because it's not what people will expect, and thus will get people talking.  There are casting choices that are unexpected, and then there are casting choices that everybody involved has to know will generate a shitload of media buzz.  So you're gonna remake Ghostbusters.  Okay, then you better have a pretty fucking good idea what you're doing because you're talking about remaking Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Rick Moranis in their prime.  (Yes, I know Ernie Hudson was the fourth Ghostbuster, I'm not an idiot, but he was an unknown at the time and Rick Moranis was not.)

So someone says "Okay then, who are some of the hottest female comedians right now?  What if?"  And the room is silent for a few, then people start throwing out names.  "Kristen Wiig!"  "Um, that one black chick!"  And so on.  So, a specific casting move which they absolutely had to know would generate buzz.  I'm not saying it's good or bad.  It can be both, or neither.  Not a problem as long as the movie is good.  But they had to know it would build hype, so they had to know that this can help sales, but also raise expectations unrealistically high.

Hypothesis: Those earlier trailers made the movie look awful on purpose in order to lower expectations, or at least put a check on them.  They didn't want people to go in with insanely high expectations becuase that would be impossible to meet, so they let the media buzz go on for a bit, they release a trailer that actually makes the movie look kinda shitty, they wait a little longer, they put out the infamous review ban (which builds more hype but being a move usually linked to movies which suck and everybody knows it, the hype is again intentional and again meant to lower expectations).

Then the movie comes out and it's fine.  A lot of people are saying it's fine, it's funny, it's not a waste of time, whatever.  I never said "all-female stunt casting" was bad; it just is.  I'll watch the movie; I'll just wait for cable or DVD to catch it.

I didn't really care for the original Ghostbusters, so it's not like they're "destroying my childhood" or anything. That said, I think the behind-the-scenes concept of this new one seems a bit silly.

I actually agree with this vlogger about the whole thing:
https://youtu.be/MOcrNVbY8oc
I think that type of approach for the movie would be a more interesting one.

We watched Mockingjay Part 1 and the Ultimate Edition of Batman vs. Superman this weekend. Mockingjay was pretty good but my god that Peta kid and Katniss's obsession with him annoys the shit out of me for some reason. LOVED Batman vs. Superman. Never saw the original cut but I thought the movie was great.

A Most Wanted Man - Philip Seymour Hoffman's second last movie I believe, a really great performance, miss the guy even more after watching it last night. A great spy/thriller/espionage movie, I like the way the film was constructed and felt different from the movies of this genre. This movie has a very natural feel to it and is paced a lot slower than usual spy thrillers. Great movie.

Not what I expected at all, really. But I enjoyed it. Good performances by Viggo Mortensen and Maria Bello.

Jupiter ascending, yeah...

Made it to the 45 min mark and was strongly tempted to turn it off. I've been a sci fi geek/fan all my life and I have no clue what's going on in this movie, or just barely. Its visually stunning, but there's not that much going on otherwise.

Last movie I saw was Finding Dory, when I took my 2 little cousins to the cinema. Normally I don't care about these movies, but I did find genuinely funny the two sea lions laughing at Gerald here and there.

The controversy surrounding Ghostbusters has given it a publicity it would not have had if it was a brand new movie.
