Commando. :metal
Damn, what an awesome action movie. Classic Arnie all the way. Good one liners, violent deaths, and plenty of biceps. The Australian dude playing Bennett made everything sound kind of rapey and creepy, even creepier when dealing with a young Alyssa Milano. :lol

My friend and I tried to do a body count but gave up at the ending. We threw our arms up when the building exploded.

The Martian - decent, entertaining albeit sometimes unbelievable.
World War Z - ummm so that was just like any other zombie movie... but with Brad Pitt. nom nom nom

I liked Tree of Life, and can appreciate Malick's unique style of directing, but it's a bit much at times. But yeah, Tree of Life was nice.

By the end I was also very curious about the kill count. I'd just count the confirmed direct kills. Collateral deaths are just bonus!

The Conjuring 2: It was great. Very well made, great camera work, good acting, likeable characters, a lot of tension and a few nice scares. Not very original, but when a movie is that well made, entertaining and thrilling, originality isn't so important. 8/10

Really bad. Terrible camerawork.

The best thing about World War Z is that Peter Capaldi plays a W.H.O. Doctor

Zootopia. Thought is was pretty good but not my favorite of the newer Disney Animated films. The sloth/DMV scene was hysterical.

I saw that this weekend as well, and that was my exact thought about it.  Good, not great.  Definitely fun, and that sloth DMV scene was gold.

I also saw Furious 7 this weekend.  It was a Fast & Furious movie, with some great bullshit action.  It's not Proust or Hitchcock, but fun enough.  Next one should be fun as well.

I also caught a documentary on Netflix called Sex in the Comix.  That was really interesting.

I didn't think it was too bad. It was better than I expected it to be. Not great though.

If that's the movie I'm thinking of, I saw it years ago, and thought it was great.  Right now, I can't remember a single thing about it.

X-Men: Days of Future Past - The Rogue cut. I really liked it, it's obvious they cut out Rogue's role of the theatrical version for pacing reasons. Her subplot is kinda not needed as well but it made for small interesting changes.

Jason Goes to Hell: I remembered it being stupid, but not THAT stupid. What a totally ridiculous movie. Soooo bad. Whoever thought this was a good idea must have been on hard drugs. BUT I still enjoyed it in a so bad it's good way and it had one amazing gore scene.

Saw the first The Conjuring movie last night, my first full movie in month.
I had given up on horror movies since the late 90's when they became all either gore or jump scares oriented so when this one got hyped up I didn't care to check it either, but recently I had recommendations from someone who had the same stance as me on the last decade of horror movies so I decided to check it out.
After initially giggling at the sight of Ron Livingston cause I kept remembering things from Office Space, I got super immersed in the movie that I watched it all over the course of only two viewings, which I rarely do since I usually think movies are way too long to just sit there and watch for a whole hour and a half or two hours.
This movie is excellent, classic horror, anticipation and payoff, no jump scares that I could think of. I really wanna see the second one.
I wouldn't want somebody with 18 kids to mow my damn lawn, based on a longstanding bias I have against crazy fucks.

I finally saw Mad Max: Fury Road last night.  Talk about late to the party lol

Anyway, it was a hell of a ride.  I totally get all the acclaim it received.  Fantastic movie.

You hadn't seen it yet? And I thought I was late to the party! I was worried it would be overhyped, and not work well on the small screen, but it definitely lived up to my expectations.
I've got Beyond Thunderdome downloaded and ready to be watched too. I don't know what to expect on that one.

The first two are not bad.

But honestly, if you've seen Fury Road only, I'm not sure that I would spend the time to go back and watch them at all.  Unless you really have a passion for fucked-up post-apocalyptic films starring Mel Gibson.

I wasn't expecting any comparison to Fury Road, I just thought they might be fun for a watch.

He is a drummer for real, so he's quite good, but there are times where the sound isn't quite what he's playing. I was so into the movie though so I didn't notice.

He can play, but I'm pretty sure he's not the person we're hearing most of the time.

I actually didn't like the movie. Amazing performances, no doubt. JK well deserved that oscar. However, I just hated every single god damn character. That movie exemplified all of the worst aspects of being a musician. Narcissism, self-centerdness, cruelty. I remember reading (even here) how so many musicians identified with Miles and I was just saddened. His character was just such an awful human being that I couldn't root for anybody. I dunno. I say all of this, by the way, as a drummer.

That's a way I feel about movies quite often. It's the reason I don't really like movies like Goodfellas, Scarface, or The Big Lebowski. But for some reason Whiplash just didn't feel like that to me. I don't know why.
