Lizzie Borden Took An Axe with Christina Ricci. There's also a television series that followed.

Haven't seen either of the new TMNT movies, but I remember the first one seeming really really bad.

haha. That reminds me of an Ed Byrne joke about Deep Blue Sea

I attempted to watch Airplane last night. I lasted ten minutes before I had to give up. Awful facepalm-worthy surface-level predictable jokes that weren't funny at all.

Watched 'The Revenent' tonight. Solid movie. Very cool cinementography. While DiCaprio was good in this I thought Hardy was better. I think Leo's Oscar was kind of like the Oscar they gave Denzel.....a "make up" Oscar for missing the performances that truly warranted it.

Don't get me wrong, I think he did awesome.....but I think he's had better performances that were overlooked.

I watched two very different movies this weekend.

On Saturday night, I was outvoted by my wife and daughter and we watched Spy with Melissa McCarthy, whom I ordinarily loathe.  However, I must say that it was fairly entertaining, with lots of actual LOL moments.  Also, Jason Statham was pretty funny.

Last night I finally got to see The Martian.  Wow, what an awesome film.  Very, very enjoyable.  The only other thing I can really compare it to is Gravity, which was really good, but I liked The Martian better.

Dimensions.
A decent enough movie. The setup was painfully predictable, but after that it was fine. The ending was a bit of a weird combination of a happy ending and sad ending, and I think it would have worked a bit better to go one way or the other, but it came together decently.

The one thing I always wanted in a Trek movie which they've not yet done is something where physics is fucked up and no longer applies.

Like the TNG episode " Where Silence Has Lease ".

I agree. As a visual spectacle at the theater, Gravity was amazing, but as a movie I like The Martian better.

I saw both in the cinema. Enjoyed both. Also preferred The Martian.

i've heard people say he kept his composure far too easily and any problem with dealt with lickety split.

But then a counter argument is that the reason he's in NASA is *because* of those qualities.

You don't want an Astronaut blubbing in the corner at the slightest hint of danger.

Yeah. That's why those people are selected. Because of their ability to think and overcome the things he did. They are mentally stronger than the average person.

I agree that The Martian was totally great! I admit I thought to myself at times "geez, he's always smiling and quipping", but I agree that if he's up there in the first place, is because he's prepared to be there.

Taken 2.
Definitely not as good as the first, but I still enjoyed it. This one was less plausible, and I felt the fight sequences weren't as good, and not quite as brutal, and the editing was a noticeable step down. I liked that they acknowledged all of the deaths from the first one rather than having a new unrelated conflict, but even with his connections I don't understand why he was able to smash through the US embassy and then still be allowed to go off and continue his killing rampage. :lol

Saw the documentary Life Itself on Roger Ebert. It was really well made, I enjoyed it quite a bit. Gave a good run through on Roger's life which I knew very little of other than him being a film critic.
