I turned it off before it started at the cinema...

...by which I meant my brain.

But it was still stupid.

The thing is - I enjoyed BVS whilst I was watching it despite the gloomy visuals and emo characters.

It was only afterwards that I realised how bad it was.

I think I enjoyed it more than Man Of Steel because the ending wasn't as ridiculous.

I have no interest in that whatsoever. It's so pointless, in my opinion, except for the simple fact of making as much money as possible from people. It's like, let's make a movie A League of Their Own vs. The Bad News Bears and let's see who wins in a baseball game. Or let's write a movie called Star Trek vs. Star Wars and the competition will be to see which side could bore me to death quicker. Sorry..just ranting. Carry on.  :lol

I wouldn't say it's pointless. Literally thousands of people have wanted to see a movie like that for many many years, and now we finally got it. I consider that a win for both us and the studio. It wasn't quite as good as I'd hoped, but at least we got it, and I still had fun with it.

That's why I said it's my opinion.  :) I'm sure other people can name a handful of reasons for it being a necessity. I just don't see that from my perspective.

I like Tin Cup, too.  Mostly because I think Rene Russo is gorgeous and this movie is about as good as it gets for Rene, but Costner and even Cheech are also very good in it.  Don Johnson is plastic as usual, but what can you do?

Tin Cup is not bad.
Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

Rene is hot,

That aside. Its a no brainer movie. U actually feel sad for Costner when he is going for it . As a golfer I get it,

For golf movies "The Greatest Game Ever Played" is my favorite golf movie.

Source Code - Kotowboy suggested this one to me, and it was really good. But the guy just stole some poor man's life and girl in another timeline! :neverusethis: If you just accept the premise, it plays out quite nicely.

Yeah, I really like Source Code too, but that ending doesn't really make any sense to me, and has always sort of bugged me how they didn't address what went down there. I mean, there must have been a lot they didn't show us about how it can't just be that easy to step into some guy's life who must've had a family and a job and bank card codes that Gyllenhaal wouldn't know and a place to live he doesn't know about and an entire identity and established life that he can't possibly just comfortably step into.

Yeah, they kept it to the idealistic happy ending, which is fine and all, but realistically it wouldn't be all roses. :lol
And I had trouble understanding how the idea of using a dead person created time travel, because interacting in the source code went far beyond simply extrapolating information from the dead guy's mind. I also don't know how the scientist could create an alternate timeline like that without realizing what was actually happening and whatever.
But as I said, accepting all of that, I enjoyed how it played out a lot, and thought it was a great movie.

I read somewhere that they (writer Ben Ripley and director Duncan Jones) were aware of that rather blatant plot hole, but they just hoped people didn't really think about it and just accepted the "happy ending" for Gyllenhaal and Michelle.

I was instantly aware of it, but it didn't bother me too much. The way I justify it is, this timeline was only created and existed through the experiment with Gyllenhaal, so that other dude's mind never inhabited that body in the new alternate timeline, and that other dude died at that moment in the original timeline from the explosion anyway.
Sometimes you have to just accept that what happens between the start and end of the movie is the entire scope of the story they're telling, and not afterwards, especially when romantic storylines is involved.

Have you guys seen the alternative ending? https://youtu.be/rrQaNApoGD0

This one leaves more to the imagination than the "happily ever after" ending.

I got the dude's legal name. I should get like 150% credit. I thought it'd be a more interesting answer than his much more popular stage name ;)

See, that's the quandry.  His legal name is "David Jones", not Davey.  So you got it, but not entirely correctly, thus partial credit.

I couldn't be sure that you didn't just see "Jones" and offer "Davey Jones" as a smartass answer, inadvertantly getting it (almost) right.  Forcing you to defend your answer was the only way to know.
