How?!?!

I can't see it till next Thursday. So excited though. Actually getting upset how early Disney was showing it to certain groups. Makes me feel even more left out :(

Confessions - A Japanese movie about a teacher who gets revenge on two of her students who are responsible for the death of her 6 year old daughter. She trolls them hard. Not quite what I expected, but still good, especially the ending.

Currently going through Darren Aronofsky's movies, rewatched The Fountain and now Noah. Something about his movies that makes any kind of genre so interesting to watch. My favorite movie of his might be Black Swan. Hauntingly beautiful portrayal of mental disorders.

On first watch I enjoyed only the first half but on second watch I really liked the entire movie. For me the pacing was the only issue on first viewing. The scene were creation is shown visually is one of the best montage of exposition I've ever seen. Beautifully shot and as always, amazing soundtrack.

Oh yea, the creation scene is great. It's a beautiful film. I just felt it was poorly written. The rock monsters are just there to give an excessive amount of exposition, then the plot didn't make a ton of sense. The bad guys have stone age rocket launchers? Eh. God wants Noah and his family to survive just so they can die out right after, ending the human race? I mean, the idea was cool, but just didn't work out logically at all. A lot of this story just didn't seem well thought out.

I can agree with that, the story was inconsistent and sorta all over the place. But oddly enough it didn't deter my enjoyment of the movie.

Awesome! I've only seen it once, but I do own in on Blu-Ray. I'll give it another chance soon enough and see if I can enjoy it more.

Still haven't seen Noah. Requiem is still my favorite, but love Black Swan, Pi, Fountain. The Wrestler I need to watch again because I don't remember it that well, but I enjoyed it.

Automata - An alright movie, nice setting, not particularly original or exciting though. Melanie Griffith's acting was so downright atrocious I was thrilled to see her get shot in the head so I wouldn't have to see her any more. Judging by the robotic acting and plastic face that didn't move, maybe her character was supposed to be a robot. :neverusethis:

Next up on my list of expected disappointment robot movies to watch will be Chappie. I'm going in with no expectations, and expecting another cliche robot sentience story.

I need to check out more of Aronofsky's movies, because I've only seen a couple. Requiem is the best movie I've ever seen that I have no desire to watch again (though I did enjoy getting a bunch of high school kids that worked at the family restaurant to watch it without warning them ahead of time :lol). Really enjoyed the Wrestler, but Black Swans was kinda meh for me. I didn't dislike it, but also didn't get all the praise it got when it came out.

For me the praise for Black Swan is the visually stunning depiction of Natalie Portman's mental disorder entwined with her desire to be the ballerina star. It's just a great display of the human psyche going wrong which is why I love the movie so much.

I've heard some old druggy friends of mine say that Requiem was " a wake up call ". . .

Not for me - i've no intention of doing any hard drugs. Or smoking...or drinking

I like Half IN The Bag. I find them mostly unbiased. They even point out a dreadful film's positives if it has any.

they don't just go " this film sucks. plot hoooooles. " with a jump cut every 5 seconds and screaming at the camera...

Hype can really fuck up a movie for me. Black Swan I went into knowing almost nothing, except Aronofsky and Portman were involved. It was a red carpet movie during the film festival here, before it was actually released, so there was no hype and it was fucking beautiful. My mom was in town so I took her and she was like "wtf did you take me to?!?" :lol

Awww. You should have started with Shaun. But yeah they're both great. Hot Fuzz is probably the best one. But the other two are just as good.

They have recurring motifs throughout.

Everything Edgar Wright does is great.

Simon Pegg without Wright is mostly shite.

Paul, The Big Nothing, Run Fatboy Run, Absolutely Anything... Nothing i'd ever consider watching twice.

Especially " Absolutely Anything " which was complete shit.

Don't think I've seen Absolutely Anything. Paul was cute. I actually really like Run Fatboy Run, though I have no idea how to defend it haha.
