Saw 4 - I didn't like this as much as 1 and 3, but probably more than 2. It was a solid effort to continue after the death of Jigsaw, but it just didn't come together in the end for me. I liked the torture setups, I liked the backstory, and I think they did about the best they could, but the attempts to continue the story felt contrived, as expected. I'm still enjoying the franchise though, and am curious to see how it continues from here.

You should just about finish the series before the remake comes out :neverusethis:

:lol Almost.

One more down last night, Saw 5. I thought the main captives and puzzle were great, it felt like a better version of Saw 2. I like seeing the flashbacks and seeing them revisit all of the scenes from previous movies, but it felt like it was all just to stretch us into believing this third guy was there the whole time. I don't like this new guy, I'd rather them just milk out pretending that the original Jigsaw set up 5 sequels worth of traps in advance. :lol
I also didn't find this one as gory overall. It didn't need it.

2012. Two disasters, the one that happens in the movie and the movie itself  :rollin

2012 is dreadful.

I love Independence Day but 2012 isn't even enjoyable on a so bad it's good level. It's just crap.

It's even worse than Godzilla if that's possible.

I hated most of what i saw from Emmerich (The Day After Tomorrow, 10,000 BC, 2012). The only one i didn't dislike was Stargate.

Independence Day... i think it's been a decade since the last time i watched it. Only thing i remember is that Will Smith is the lead  ;D

2012 was average disaster movie fare, ie. terrible. I've only seen the last 15 minutes of ID and that was more than I could stomach. It was beyond awful Hollywood tripe.

Speaking of my weak stomach, got through Saw 6 today. Another solid continuation. Really not much to say, it was another Saw movie. And the next one is in 3D!!!*

*Viewed in 2D.

Same. Even Stargate was fairly average, but at least it did spawn my favourite series of all time.

I liked 2012, but I'm demented because I enjoy disaster films.

I agree on those other movies - ie standard fare, but I did really like Stargate. I think it was the first movie I went to see that had 'proper' surround sound, back in the day. The combination of aliens and ancient civilization was pretty cool. Just like Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull. I never really got into the series though.

Also Brent Spiner is in Independence Day basically doing his "other voice" which he uses for everyone that isn't Data.

His portrayal of Data is in my opinion perfect. He is 100% believable as a machine and not an actor in make up.

It's just that whenever he has to play anyone else - even Lore. The acting goes out the window or is beyond hammy.

Very emotional movie. There's no way I could watch it again.

Batman Begins. After a really long time. It's funny to hear Bale do his batman voice without any modulator and just try to sound gruff, no wonder he lost his voice several times during the filming.

That's the "real" Brent Spiner.  The voice, the mannerisms, everything.  Data is an amazing character, and Brent is brilliant as Data, but yeah, other than Data, Brent is very limited as an actor.  Soong might be an exception.  That one episode with Soong, Data, and Lore all in it was pretty cool because Brent was believeable as all three, and they each had distinctive personalities.

But I've seen him in a few other movies, and guest starring in things on TV, and he's always exactly the same.

But seriously, good on him for branching out a bit.  Of course, Brent is a pretty good singer.

Honestly, go check out the movie. It's a light movie, but it's fun. Jack Lemmon, Walter Matthau, Brent Spiner, Dyan Cannon, Elaine Stritch, Hal Linden, Donald O'Conner, and of course Rue McClanahan.

Just a nice fun movie.

Do it..........do it.

Someday.  The only video options any more are On Demand (which only has the most recent, popular movies) and Redbox (which only has the most recent, popular movies).  If I ever see it on cable I'll check it out.

Saw 3D - I think that was the worst of the bunch. It was mindless gore more so than any of the rest, the relation to Jigsaw was the flimsiest (and they were flimsy to begin with), and the tie-in with previous movies was even less believable than the rest. And I didn't need the cheesy 3D giblets flying at the camera, but I fully expected it. :lol

Dark city from 1998.

Was a flop at the time, but this sci fi noir is a cool and unique watch.
