We watched The Intern this weekend.  It was nice, and funnier than I thought it would be.  I expected it to be a somewhat pleasant time-killer, but I liked it more than that.
Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

That was my experience too. I thought it was going to be a typical chick flick, but I was pleasantly surprised that there was a little more depth to it. Very watchable, plus, I like Anne Hathaway, so there's also that..  :D

I finally watched the full five and a half hour version of Nymphomaniac. I have to say that I wasn't surprised at what he tried in the end. I saw that coming. However, I wasn't expecting what followed.

Fine.

No it's probably not going to make you cry and no you're probably not going to jerk off to it.

I'm not sure why you're even mocking a movie you are never going to watch.

I knew he would try to have sex with her. I saw that coming a mile away but I never expected her to shoot him. At least that's what I assumed happened behind the black screen.

Oh yea. I didn't have a big problem with that. I was more thrown off by that whole scene of her ex and former protege doing what they did to her at the end. Seemed less authentic and more for shock.

Norton is AWESOME in this.

Underrated flick.  Norton's performance is usually what everyone mentions, and deservedly so, but Gere and Linney were both not only outstanding, but had tremendous on-screen chemistry.

I understand her ex hitting her. I do not get why her protégé decided to piss on her. That made no sense and I can't figure out her motive in that.

Saw 4 - I didn't like this as much as 1 and 3, but probably more than 2. It was a solid effort to continue after the death of Jigsaw, but it just didn't come together in the end for me. I liked the torture setups, I liked the backstory, and I think they did about the best they could, but the attempts to continue the story felt contrived, as expected. I'm still enjoying the franchise though, and am curious to see how it continues from here.

You should just about finish the series before the remake comes out :neverusethis:

Saw The 33 recently and I thought it was pretty good. Lou Diamond Phillips did a great job I think, he's one of those actors you've seen in tons of movies yet I can't remember most of them unless I look it up. Young Guns is the only one I can think of right now.

I just had White Castle yesterday in Vegas and was thinking I need to watch that one again.
Anybody else from Jersey bothered by the fact that they go from Hoboken to Cherry Fucking Hill to get White Castle even though IRL there's one down the road in Jersey City?? :lol

That is a very good movie.  Denis Leary gets to do his schtick, but doesn't overdo it.  Spacey is awesome as always, and I'm not as familiar with Judy Davis, but she's great, too.  I'll watch The Ref if I catch it.

That's why ignorance is bliss.  I have no knowledge of NJ geography, and they toss out a line or two about their options once they figure out the one location is closed (turned into the semenburger place), so for the ignorant, it's all plausible.

On the other hand, movies set in Chicago or Detroit (which is a lot) usually drive me crazy for the same reasons.  They'll turn off the highway or go around a corner and suddenly be halfway across town.  Shit like that.  Hollywood Magic!!

Yeah, exactly! It's funny. Obviously you know it has nothing to do with the quality of the movie but it's still irritating when you know the landscape.

Lol . true. It actually makes the movie even better knowing how f'd up the trip would actually be. Plus I can relate to the movie as it describes my college years here in Jersey :hat
