I hated Melancholia when I saw it the first time. I read about it and was expected an uber depressing film, but it wasn't depressing at all.

Then I watched it again with an open mind and without expectations and I realize that it's one of the most beautiful films ever made.

Nymphomaniac was amazing, except for last 10-15 minutes. I just didn't....get it, but that might be on me.

Lars Von Trier is definitely my favorite film maker, sadly his movies are usually so intense that they're hard to watch multiple times.

I haven't seen Nymphomaniac yet.

As far as Melancholia, I found some moments of it to be somber. There was definitely some more going on. I need to watch it again and break it down a little better.

I've been meaning to rewatch Melancholia because I haven't seen it since the film festival years ago. Nymphomaniac I did really enjoy but haven't seen the director's cut or whatever yet. I also wasn't a big fan of the ending.
And yeah, I have no desire to watch many of his other films again. A friend just talked me into watching Dancer in the Dark again with her (we haven't done it but she wants to plan it) but at first I was like HELL NO.

Room - This was an awesome movie, and I understand the praise it received. I will say though, as well of a job Brie Larson did, I thought the boy did an even better job! Kid actors can be very hit or miss, but this might be the best one I've ever seen. He was believable in every way, and really, really drew emotions out of me.

A Beautiful Mind - I absolutely love Russell Crowe, and this movie is amazing. It's got a wonderful story, and his acting in this movie is amazing. This is my 2nd time seeing it and I think it's one of my all time favorites.

Mad Max: Fury Road again. Still 8/10, a modern action masterpiece. Sure deserved all the technical awards, such unbelievable work was put on it.

Watched two movies today.

First up was Predator. Never seen it before somehow. Lots of great one liners from Arnie, and every line from Jesse Ventura was pure gold. Shame he didn't last a bit longer. Overall, great movie. I found the end part of the movie not quite as interesting as the rest, and the conclusion with killing the predator could have been a bit more satisfying, but still a classic.

Next up was the Robocop reboot. It was an ok movie, but it lacked any depth and was fairly uninspired overall. It missed a lot of elements that made the original great, and didn't do a great job of capitalizing on its new elements to succeed on its own. They set up some solid ideas, but didn't really explore them, and only gave them to you in the most predictable surface level way. You could see many of the plot points coming a mile off, and then they were executed much simpler than anticipated.
The Batman/Iron Man/Transformers redesign for Robocop was bland and didn't make a lot of sense. Now that I think about it, it's somewhat ironic that the in-movie explanation for the design was basically to pander to the masses. The few callbacks to the original movie were unnecessary and added nothing. Far less effective than the original movie.

Didn't plan to. :lol There are still some movies that have managed to fly under the radar. Total Recall is another one, which I have ready to watch. Might save that for next weekend.

I haven't seen Predator 2 in so long, I might watch it again soon just to remember. I don't remember really disliking it, but it's obviously nowhere near the first one.

I thought the third one was alright though.

It was really good. The movie itself didn't exactly blow me away, but she did a phenomenal job as Linda Lovelace. It's one of those movies where I was more impressed by the acting than the content of the movie.

I liked Predator 2.  I thought it was a decent sequel in that it expanded upon the biology and culture of the Predator as a species, in much the same way Aliens expanded upon what we knew about the xenomorph in Alien.  It didn't do it as well, and there are a few scenes that still kinda make me cringe, but overall it's not horrible.  I liked the original Predator, but honestly was never a huge, huge fan, so the drop in quality (which I admit is there) didn't bother me so much.

Predator 2 was the first movie I ever saw at Mile High Sci Fi, which is basically live MST3K with comedians in a movie theater. So you can guess what those guys think of it :lol

The Revenant, a veryenjoyable movie, the story wasn't that special, but the setting was very beautifull, very nice camera work too.

Predator is one of Arnie's best, IMO. Total Recall is another good one, with some classic one-liners, though stay away from the remake with Colin Farrell - it's an abomination to behold.  :lol

I have to admit to watching The Intern (Anne Hathaway, Robert De Niro) at the weekend. It was the wife's choice (if you believe that ), but was actually pretty good.

I watched two movies this weekend:

The Revenant - A good movie with a great performance from DiCaprio.
The Hateful Eight - I love the Tarantino movies, and this was one of his better ones.
Zydar is my new hero.  I just laughed so hard I nearly shat.

Watched Furious 7 this weekend, pretty much a typical movie from the series. Honestly, I hadn't read up on how they worked Paul's character out of the movie, so that was interesting to see. Beyond that it was a fun flick, nothing too great.

Finally saw The Hateful Eight, the last movie of 2015 I wanted to see. I just finished it, so I don't feel that I can put it on any list right now, but I'm pretty sure it'll end up on the top 10.

Dead Pool (or is it Deadpool?)  ;D Loved it, and all of the in-jokes. Cool fact is that the soundtrack is done by Dutch artist Junkie XL (Tom Holekenborg) who ALSO did the soundtrack to Mad Max Fury Road!
So this guy is seriously working on his carreer.

Got to see a special preview of Batman v Superman last night. I won't give away anything. I went into it skeptical, and although not great it is entertaining. Worth a trip to see it in the theatre.
