I'm glad you liked it.

I found it to be a real chore.

I agree it dragged for me as well.

One movie that I own but when I see it on TV I can't stop and watch is Silverado.  I love the cast and great acting.

Full lips.

Another movie I pass by of late and can't stop watching is Kingsmen: The Secret Service.

I've heard of it but haven't seen it.

I borrowed The Revenant from the Internet so I'm watching that when I go home.

Watch is John.  It's such a fun movie and don't forget about In Bruges.  It's a fantastic movie.

BTW another movie I love was on Sunday morning and I watched it sipping on coffee.  Finding Forester.  Another top 15 movie for me all time.

Yeah for me it is. There is something about the dialogue that I just love.

I can't judge yet because I haven't seen it, but a good dialogue can steal the show. I think I'll do a Top Movie List soon. I'm already putting together a top album list. After that, I'll do a Top 5 mods.  ;)  :lol

The King's Speech is one of my very favorites films  :hefdaddy

I remember enjoying this one a lot more than I thought I would.

Me too. I'm not usually into real-life films or films chosen by my family, but it was nice.

Whiplash

Truly amazing

Yeah! From 2014 I also liked Bad Words and Birdman very much. Bad Words might be my favourite of all time.

Earlier tonight I watched Laura. Another great film noir classic.

Then after that I watched The Imitation Game. Alan Turing is one of my favorite people.

Now, I'm watching Eyes Wide Shut.

What I love about Fellowship most are actually the scenes in The Shire. That tranquil vision and those unending moments of elation as you temporarily live there with the hobbits are so endearing that it makes me want to live there forever.

When I saw The Fellowship of the Ring in the theater the first time, I actually got tears in my eyes during those opening scenes.  Middle Earth, J.R.R. Tolkien's creation, was finally on the big screen and it looked amazing!

I wept throughout both trilogies. I'm such a mush.  But yes, you're right. It was so amazing to finally behold.

There are some parts in the movies (basically Return of the King) that get me every time and I can't help but choke up a bit:

"I cannot carry the ring for you... but I can carry you"

"For Frodo"

"My friends... you bow to no one"

I almost get moved just by thinking of it.

You picked three excellent examples.

Frodo Baggins: I can see the Shire. The Brandywine River, Bag End, Gandalf's fireworks, the lights in the party tree.
Samwise Gamgee: Rosie Cotton dancing. She had ribbons in her hair. If ever I was to marry someone, it would have been her. [sobs] It would have been her!
Frodo Baggins: I'm glad to be with you, Samwise Gamgee, here at the end of all things.

LOTR is my favourite book (calling it one book as I had a combined edition) - it's the only book I think I've ever cried at the end of. The movies did an incredible job of capturing the spirit of the book, IMO. I don't even care too much about the multiple endings, or leaving out sections like The Scouring Of The Shire - I think it was fair enough that some things had to be cut to work as a movie series. :tup

The Hobbit movies, on the other hand, didn't really recapture that magic for me.

Back on topic - the last movie I saw was Django Unchained, last night on Netflix.

I was definitely pleasantly surprised by that one.

Sharon Stone screaming her head off for much of the last 30-40 minutes of that movie is hard to sit through too many times, but I still love the film as a whole.  Pesci is so great at playing a despicable scumbag.

Just rewatched Wild at Heart  :heart :lol

Weird as hell, but still probably David Lynch's most accessible movie. Cage and Dern are both amazing, and so is her mom. Not to mention Willem Dafoe as one of the creepiest people ever. *shudder*

Love and Mercy .. pretty good .. huge John Cusack fan.

Me too, and both he and Dano were great in that.

She gets on my nerves to begin with. If it wasn't for Pesci and DeNiro, that movie would have been ruined for me. James Woods is awesome too, even though he plays a moron. The exchange with him and the daughter is hysterical, especially considering she came off as more mature than he did.

Three great movies. Primal Fear has one of the best endings.

Love and Mercy .. pretty good .. huge John Cusack fan.

I never saw that but I'm a big Cusack fan. I recently read that he was Quentin Tarantino's original choice to play Lance in Pulp Fiction. I was watching that last night and it never gets old. There are so many great things about that movie.

Did pretty much the exact same thing with Nymphomaniac last night. Melancholia is one of my least favorite movies ever, so I thought "hey maybe I should check out his new one". It wasn't bad. It was pretty interesting overall actually, but not interesting enough to sit through like 5 hours of it.

And with a name like "Nymphomaniac" and it being directed by Lars Von Trier I definetely expected some nudity or sexual stuff, but I was a bit surprised to see that some of it was basically porn.

I loved Melancholia. It was a bit slow at first but I loved what was going on and watching how different people perceive their mortality.
