Waking Ned Devine. Adorable and hilarious. Totally up my alley with old people and death and such.

YES!  Still one of the most satisfying film endings ever. :hefdaddy :hefdaddy

Yeah I just watched The Bourne Ultimatum for the first time in a while. Definitely my favorite of the trilogy and one of the best action movies I've ever seen. Period.

I couldn't give more fucks about those things :lol . Yeah, it was very well directed, I'll give you that, but some parts were so overacted I didn't know whether to laugh or cringe. It wasn't bad, but I felt quite meh about it.

Yeah, it was great!

Just watched Danny Deckchair, which I had never heard of until my massage therapist recommended it. Silly and fun!

Watched Psycho the other day. I have seen better movies  :lol

I've not seen it. But one of my biggest peeves is when you watch a film that's meant to be an absolute "classic" and you don't like it - nobody will accept that you don't like it.

Same with supposedly classic musicians. Some guitarists on my music degree got pretty upset if I said I didn't like Hendrix or Vai or Satch or SRV :lol

I know that feel bro. Like people don't believe me when I say The Godfather is just a good movie, nothing too special, or when I don't like much of Led Zeppelin. Crazy things.

Really excited for Rogue Nation. At first I though I'd see it today with my cousin, but he had a wedding to attend, so now I don't know. Hopefully I won't have to wait too long.

Unfriended, some boring horror movie about a dead friend who sends a skype message to a group of friends one year after she died, yadda yadda. 3/10 would not recommend

Undertaking Betty. What an adorable movie, despite its faults. Christopher Walken was also in it and hilarious/ridiculous.

Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol

Haven't seen it yet and wanted to watch it before I go and see the 5th one next weekend. What an awesome movie! Now it's time to go back and watch the first 3 again, as I don't remember a whole lot from them.

I've never seen any of them until recently, but I caught most of 3 and Ghost Protocol on TV this week (they're obviously replaying them all because of Rogue Nation), and enjoyed them.
3 had a pretty stupid story, which I expected from the start thanks to who was writing, but it had cool action sequences (don't get me started on the whole mask thing though).
Ghost Protocol I enjoyed more. More insane action, and the story was overall better.

I generally avoid anything with Tom Cruise, but not a bad franchise from what I've seen. I wouldn't go and watch it at the cinema, but I do want to catch up on the rest at some point.

The mask thing was pretty cool, and done well, in MI 1.  You could tell the masks that Ethan wore, it was still Ethan.  Then in 2, John Woo took it to a whole other level, and it got ridiculous.  I'm passed being annoyed by it... it's kind of one of the hall-marks of the franchise now.  Love how the story in 4 was gonna use it, but then they abandoned it - it's like they said "this is ridiculous, so we're not gonna do it".

3 had a couple of holes and a certain incompleteness to the storyline, but I think you're hate for Orci/Kurtzman/Abrams is clouding your judgment.  It's nearly as good as 1.

It's not clouding my judgement, I think I just gave the wrong impression by my post. I enjoyed the movie plenty overall, but the story wasn't very solid, and had a lot of the hallmarks of the people involved. It's not unexpected for a recent action movie though, just thought I'd point it out as a comparison to Ghost Protocol, which I enjoyed a little more (not that I'm arguing that Ghost Protocol was perfect, as they didn't even seem to know how magnets work). I enjoyed them both for what they are.

I do enjoy the silliness of the masks, but I like that they had to work around it in Ghost Protocol. The entire time I was watching that scene in 3, I could only laugh at the idea that they managed to take some photos in those circumstances with a moving subject with minimal angles and perspective parallax, do some perfect photogrammetry instantly with no major post-cleanup, use a portable CNC lathe that somehow worked on latex including the interior (or maybe the latex was a secondary process which would have raised even more problems), then some machine could spray paint it perfectly at speed, then they apply perfect hair that quickly and seamlessly, then put the mask on without any need for makeup (or even adhesive?) to blend it into the existing skin. Ridiculous in 2015, let alone back then.
Do they think the audience knows nothing about photogrammetry, subtractive prototyping, and makeup effects?! :blob:

Old Hammer flick: Countess Dracula (1971) Loads of costumes, horrible make-up, fake blood peasants with pitchforks..and just a little nudity. Great.

Yesterday afternoon, I watched Hurrican of Fun, a behind-the-scenes documentary on the making of Wet Hot American Summer.  It was crazy.  I didn't realize it was the first film appearance for so many of those actors.  Lots of fun.

Last night we watched Gone Girl.  That was fucked up.

Good movie, until the last 15 minutes.  I can appreciate it was a very untraditional ending, but I think it sucked the life right out of the rest of the movie.  Like there wouldn't be a more thorough investigation into her.  'Oh, she's back, and she's alive... sure, just trust everything she says.  We're good'.

Sheesh

Saw Birdman. One hell of a movie.  Really enjoyed the story line, the actors, the touch of fantasy, and the almost split personality of his famous persona.
