Aw, I loved the first one. It wasn't intelligent or anything, but it was a lot of fun.

EDIT: Also maybe this should be stickied?

The Immitation Game starring Benedict Cumberbatch as Alan Turing, the man that build the machine that broke the German Enigma codes in WW 2.
Great, beautiful movie. Go see it if you can.

Mallrats, Clerks, and now watching Chasing Amy :heart
I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

Annnd since I was so drunk last night that I wound up falling asleep several times during Chasing Amy... I stopped it... and will finish that along with at least Dogma and Jay and Silent Bob today :)

My favorites of the Smith films are easily Clerks and Dogma.

We watched The Imitation Game last night.  Superb film, with impressive performances all around, not the least of which was from Benedict Cumberawesome.

Well deserving of all the award nominations it received.

Saw Lucy.  Felt the ending was way to abrupt.

Yeah, Lucy was really really weird in terms of pacing. And in a lot of other areas, come to think of it.

I haven't sen Lucy, but it is one of those few movies that I got actually frustrated over when I saw clips and stuff from it. It seems incredibly stupid.

I watched John Dies at the end mainly I am a big fan of Don Coscarelli. His movies are always interesting and weird and this one is no exception. I really liked it and it makes me want to read the book.
Do you read Sutter Cane?

Yeah beautiful movie. I just had a lot of trouble not seeing Tywin Lannister in the character Charles Dance played....  :P

Ok so my brother and I watched Jupiter Ascending.

I'd heard it was absolute nonsense but ... I ...liked it ?

It wasn't out and out awful and it wasn't Matrix great - but it was a fun watch.

It was obvious they were going for another Matrix type movie and tried to cram a trilogy worth of story in one film.

It had some very nice set pieces and CGI but it did take itself slightly too seriously at times.

6/10 i'd say.  It's silly and pompous but entertaining.

I assume you watched the Nicholas Cage version?

Your next mission, should you choose to accept it, is to watch the original version, starring Kirk Cameron, and compare notes for us.

:lol, probably not. But the DVD did have previews for several terrible-looking movies (one starring Judd Nelson, another Ving Rhames!) that I may have to get.

I saw a few clips of left behind.  You don't even get fun Nicolas Cage here, he just looks depressed the entire time not that I blame him. I plan to watch Joe soon which I heard was really good.

Joe is so good! Y'all definitely need to see it.

And yeah, he is not his usual crazy self in this movie, unfortunately. We watched some of the extras including an interview with him, and my date remarked "I think that's the least excited I've seen him about a project he's done in a long time." Like, even with that stupid Outcast movie he was all into it, but this one notsomuch. He said his brother is a fan of the book series and "encouraged" (threatened?) him to do it.

I recently caught Ruthless People, a movie I had completely forgotten about and had not seen since probably 1988.  What a riot this movie is.  De Vito plays such a perfect scum bag, and Judge Reinhold was aces as well.

I grew up with Pooh.  Watching him with our kids as they grew up was awesome.  :metal

I recently caught Ruthless People, a movie I had completely forgotten about and had not seen since probably 1988.  What a riot this movie is.  De Vito plays such a perfect scum bag, and Judge Reinhold was aces as well.

I thought about that movie the other day for some reason.  It really is good, very funny.  The plot is twisted, but it leads to so many great moments.  Also, the two detectives, clueless to the very end.
