Saw 'The Vault', a seemingly quite under the radar horror/thriller from this year with James Franco. It was alright. A few good ideas, but nothing special, but not outright bad either.

Saw Minority Report for the first time last night. It was pretty good. I'd give it a 7.5ish/10

Finally got to watch Arrival, what an amazing movie. I regret so much not seeing this on the big screen. Amazing story and masterfully depicted, the sound design, the score, cinematography, everything was just fantastic.

I'm way more excited for Blade Runner 2049 now than ever to see how Denis Villeneuve will showcase this movie. If early screening rumblings are to go by, they've already declared it a masterpiece.

I loved arrival so damn much. So when I heard that Denis Villeneuve was directing the sequel to another one of my favorite movies, I just couldn't wait. The release date can't come fast enough.

Wind River. After a bunch of duds, I was craving a really good movie this year, and it finally delivered. It has an eerie sense of realism that you don't often get. Highly recommended.

Royal Tenenbaums. I didn't really like it the first time but after being introduced to more Wes Anderson I liked it much better this time around. I still think The Life Aquatic is my favorite but as a more grounded movie this does a great job.

Just watched a few good men for the very first time. It was deliciously early 90's and over I enjoyed it, but I think expectations were too high.

There is so much dialog and storylines to take in you have to watch his movies twice.

I just watched An american werewolf in London for the first time.

I've seen bits and pieces, but this is the first time I ever watched the whole thing. The pacing was a little rough. A lot of time spent in the hospital, and then once it starts getting good, it ends (Extremely abruptly).

I did love the zombie friend and the part in the zoo when he's naked in the bush and steals the balloons  :lol

Just watched the Angry Video Game Nerd Movie. Been a fan of his since I found his site, about 5 years ago, and have watched pretty much all his youtube videos, along with everything he does with Mike and Ryan. This movie... was about what I thought it would be. AVGN videos are like SNL skits. They work well because they are concise and focused. Try and stretch it out over the length of a film, and it falls flat. I get more laughs out of an AVGN video than I did this whole film. I did like the story though, it was more complex than I intended, without being overly silly.

IT: I really liked it. Really the only complaint is that the pacing can seem a bit rushed at times. Which is excusable seeing as its a big ass book and they have a lot of stuff to cram in without making a 3 hour movie........which I wouldn't have minded with this cast honestly.

I've also been on a bit of a Full Moon kick so I've been working my way through the Subspecies series. I only have one more film left to go. The first 3 were solid vampire flicks with Radu being the best thing about all 3 of them. Vampire Journals was a let down though. I didn't find any of the vampires in that one nearly as interesting as Radu is and the cheese factor has been cranked up to 11. Which is made worse by the constant narration by the main character. If I didn't know that some of the characters appeared in Subspecies 4 I would've skipped it completely.

Incendies. Expertly made movie by the amazing director and very in demand director at the moment, Denis Villeneuve. I loved the structure of the movie, very well paced and shot so well. As for the subject matter, it's one of the most depressing movies I've seen, very difficult to swallow, disturbing overall. The guy is an amazing story teller and the movie was engaging throughout.

Loved Get Out, didn't even realize the sly references throughout the movie, very multilayered and well done. I'm going to have to watch it another few times.

Wait until dark (1967) I've been wanting to see this since I saw it featured on bravo's scariest movie moments. Great well acted thriller with Alan Arkin stealing the show.

Scream Blacula Scream (1973) It felt a bit cheaper than the first one but it's still a fun watch. William Marshall is fantastic.

The Void (2016) A pretty good flick heavily inspired by John Carpenters Prince of Darkness with a healthy dose of the thing tossed in.

Also went to a Drive in last night to see The Exorcist and The Shining.

Mr.Holmes, such an excellent movie. I liked seeing an aging Sherlock who is forgetful, you generally never see any adaption done when he's retired and becoming an old fossil. It's a beautifully crafted movie, so well put together, has a much slower pace, very relaxed infact. Story unfolds in stages and I thought was so well done. I'd give it a 9/10. I think it was that good.
