Everyone thought that it was a money laundering scheme, I mean he spent $6million on the movie.

The Room: Yes, THAT movie. Holy shit, this is so fucking atrocious. But in a way, feels like it's done in purpose, just in a very subtle sense. Really one of those it's so bad it's great. Every rating seems fitting so I guess I'll give it this one for how much fun I had. Tommy Wiseau is my hero. 4/5

One of the funniest movies I've ever seen. Love it.

James Franco made a movie about the making of it and it's coming out soon:

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3521126/reference

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=rir1WzZqwxE

Cannot wait to see it.

I just bought the book the movie is based off of, I can't wait to read it.

It's a really good book. At times hilarious and other times quite sad. Enjoy. :tup

Finally saw Kong, Skull Island. I thought it was a pretty good movie with some good monster action. Just wish it was a little longer with more jungle and creature scenes. Unexpected what happened to Goodman's character though....lol!

Just came back from Dunkirk

I'm pretty conflicted since it was really well made, beautifully shot and did a great job putting you in the headspace of a soldier during war, but on the flip side I fucking hated it. (and maybe that was the point, since war is awful). I felt super tense and uncomfortable the whole time and that's not really my thing when it comes to seeking out the escapism of the cinema. If that's what Nolan was going for, than mission accomplished.

It also did a piss poor job of establishing the structure or what the fuck was going on. Only half way through the movie did I figure out that I was watching a Tarantino film basically since none of it was chronological and they cut back and forth between 3 different stories which took place over 3 different time frames, which made it really confusing to follow. One took place over an hour, one took place over a day and the other took place over a week, but they were all meshed together and it lost me. It kept cutting directly from day to night and it was really screwing me up. It was so esoteric and honestly felt like an art film. I felt nothing for these characters. I knew nothing about them and just could not get invested. yet this is the stylistic choice that nolan made.

Now contrast that with Saving private Ryan which was super cohesive and also captured the horrors of war, but was a film that I walked away feeling very satisfied.

Now, there's plenty of people that loved Dunkirk and I totally respect that. Nolan was going for something very specific stylistically and it is a good film in that regard. It just wasn't for me. And despite me not liking it, I will give it its props. For what it is, its a home run.

Watched "Tommy Boy"'for the first time in probably ten years last night. Man, I forgot how funny that movie was and in particular Chris Farley. My wife and were legit cracking up half the time even though I've seen that movie dozens of times.

As hilarious as Farley and Spade is in that flick, Aykroyd has the one line in it that always makes me LOL for real:

Black Sheep is another funny movie with those two (Farley and Spade) in it. There are a couple scenes in that movie that made me hysterical... HELLLOOO WASHINGTON!!!!!  :rollin

Skyfall.

Yes, I'm working backwards through James Bond movies at the moment.

I think I noted earlier that I watched Spectre last month and that it was the first Bond movie that I've ever watched in full.  Blown away, so much action, so much fun - and I don't know why I never tried any of these movies earlier in my life.  I'm going to try and work my way through the series, but I'm not subscribed to a movie service, and I don't want to pay to rent 20 something movies.  So I'll catch them when I can DVR them for now.

So many quotable lines from that (and Black Sheep).

I could see it being a top 20 comedy.  It is hard to rank comedy films alongside non-comedy films.  It's like trying to rank goalies in hockey next to all other players.  Totally different animals.

I would probably put Tommy Boy in my top 20 comedies.

Annabelle: Creation - I saw it couple days ago, not so bad but also not so scary as it was on trailers ;) Plot was clear and even good enough, there were some scary moments but nothing special. I even have to say that Annabelle made me laugh with her scary look, which isn't so scary in some scenes... Is just hilarious ;) But anyway if You liked the first part, and generally the series You should try it.

Chad, top 20? That has to be the Scotch talking.

It's partially because of the time in my life that it came out - 3rd year University.  Me and my pals watched the fuck out of that movie over-and-over again, usually after consuming copious amounts of alcohol (and occasionally a little something extra).

As we all know, "top" movies (songs/albums/TV shows...) aren't always a reflection of their quality, but the impact they personally made.

Uhhh... where's Planes, Trains and Automobiles?  That's probably my #1 comedy of all-time.  While Uncle Buck is fantastic, I was always partial to Who's Harry Crumb?

Also missing:
Home Alone
Anchorman
The Hangover
Bridesmaids
Austin Powers
Old School
Elf
Spaceballs
Fletch

As for parody movies, Top Secret was always my #2 behind Airplane.

"And you must be Deja Vu"
"Have we not met before monsieur?"

Gah, I totally forgot about This Is Spinal Tap.

History of the World Part 1 has some hysterical parts and some really stupid parts.

I don't get the love for Stripes. It's kinda funny, but that's about it.

Fletch and Anchorman could have easily made my list.

Old School is funny, but not all-time funny, IMO.

Planes, Trains and Automobiles is also really good, but if I am going to pick a Steve Martin movie, I am going with Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.  From the late 80s as well, Throw Momma from the Train is awesome.
