I haven't kept a record of it at all and could very well be wrong, but off the top of my head I can only think of two banned lists that are longer.

Edit: went for a really quick look and found one more. :loser:

I had a little idea: how about some short, 1 or 2, maybe even 3 rounds at most, mini roulettes? Since hosting a roulette takes quite a bit of time, how about having the possibility of some quick ones? They could even have very specific themes like "get me into jazz, electronics, etc" or even about bands, like "get me into Radiohead, winger, etc". I'd personally love to host one this way, in a couple of weeks or months. What do you think?

When Parama hosted the first mini roulette, I actually thought the idea would catch on and there would be a few of them being run. I myself planned on my next roulette to be only 5 rounds and I have a few different rulesets to pick from for it (including one with two teams where each team sends only a certain style/genre, similar to your idea, because I wanted to get into some different things more). But to my surprise no one else has shown interest in hosting a mini roulette until now.

So, I'm definitely open to the idea, have at it.

I'm pretty sure it was actually longer than my first roulette.

I think I have a better understanding of what you like now so I may join. I crashed out unceremoniously in your mini roulette though so who knows!

Any chance I can jump on to one of these things? I've been meaning to ask for awhile. A PM will work in case I miss this thread.

Alright, I'm so out of the loop but I'll start thinking of the categories then.

Edit: Man the first couple I thought of are brutal. Has there been enough interest to make contestants go hunting for songs? I'm talking scavenger hunt level shit.

You're the creator of roulettes here so I guess you can do whatever you want :neverusethis:

But really tho, I'd love to participate in your roulette, but I don't understand how the scavenger hunt would work? Aren't we supposed to just send you songs and you rate them by how much you dig them? :P

It should be fine I think :tup
The host of the current roulette has a banned list that's fucking miles long, and people still join despite having to hunt for artists that aren't on the list.

I'm trying to think outside of the box and there is one thing that would involve a group event so I'll think about how to coordinate that. I'm also thinking of an actual good prize to the winner, maybe some free music or something.

I'd also go into this sort of blind so I'd almost exempt the banned list for myself if that's OK since there's a ton of "standard" music around here I honestly haven't listened to ever.

Yeah I'll definitely participate, but I think having a banned list, even if short or with bands rarely discussed here, would be much appreciated to know what you like and avoid sending stuff you're already familiar with.

I will keep entering roulettes until I win one! I came close in Tomi's and it's given me the thirst. I'll probably screw up Parama's before the EP round so I'm game for another  :tup

Luke did a thing where he recorded himself (badly) singing parts of all the entries from the round

Yea, what Parama said. It was like hangman, as in, a way for everyone to guess the songs that have been sent, based on my ruined version of the song  :lol try something different, I am all for a new challenge. A scavenger hunt sounds intriguing.

That sounds hilarious although I'm not sure I'd be doing that. I've got about three categories picked out so far but I need to tweak the specifics. I'm not even too worried about learning new music although that would be a cool bonus. This is more just grading songs and letting the contestants have fun. If I do have a banned list, which may actually be a good idea now that I think about it, it'll be brief. I'd just like to see how the contestants minds work more than anything even if I may have heard a song/artist before.

Another dumb question but how many rounds has there been typically?

it really varies but 8 or 10 seem to be the most common numbers

Yup, and usually the last round is an EP round, where the top three/four participants send a small EP with songs of their choosing. But really you can do whatever, the host decides

Anyway I'm curious to see what you come up with, something different sounds nice! And I'd like to join :azn:

So I'm thinking of having another roulette, but I would exclude the guys from my first ones, and would only have people that I've never had any interactions with.

Just on this page alone..
Sacul, home, train of naught, orcus, two suits luke, parama..

Who's up for schoolin' a fogey?
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

This should be good.  I am going to run a book on the number of "blows" and "sucks" if anyone interested in a little flutter  ;D
