In lieu of this slightly renewed interest and Sacul also wanting to run another roulette soon, I'll start up the waiting list again.

hhmmm... Maybe Sacul should host a "fogey" roulette, and get some real music.  :neverusethis:

That's funny. I was thinking the same thing. Kind of a reverse of what I did.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

I won't be confirming any players until I make the op, except for Chad, cause he'd kill me if I snubbed him.

You could add up the ages of the 4 fogeys currently running roulettes, and it would literally be over 200.

I can't believe I missed the call for Lonestar's.  I would have loved a single-elimination death match.   Go down fighting with the Mother Love Bone and one-off obscure Dave Navarro side bands!

I may run another one of these around November/December January/February :P
Yeah those months are usually chaotic for everybody, me included, and if everything goes fine with college, should have free time until beginnings of March so if someone wants to go after Chris is done, please do.

orcus expressed interest in running a while ago, so I've asked him if he is ready yet.

I've also added myself to the waiting list to run a mini-roulette, although I don't intend to do so until January at the earliest. :corn

So Bolsters has asked me if I'm ready to go, and basically yeah I am. To start with, want to get a feel (at least from people in this thread) on my possibly ambitious idea of doing an ALBUM roulette instead of songs. I wouldn't have a large number of participants, and probably wouldn't do too many rounds, so I think it would be manageable. But I'm very much an album listener, and I imagine it's the case for a lot of people here too. Not sure if anyone else has tried this, but am keen to give it a go.

Thoughts?

Ambitious would be one way to put it.  Even if you only had 5 participants, assuming an average of 1 hour/album, this format would either result in two things  A) you don't get a chance to listen to the submissions more than once or twice at most; or B) the gap between rounds will be at least 2 weeks.

Hour-long commute each way where I normally watch a Netflix/Amazon Prime show, but would dedicate to listening for the duration of the roulette, plus I listen to music most of the work day too. My intention would be minimum two listens per album, and probably around a week per round. And after the first round or two, there will be fewer remaining contestants.

EDIT: According to last.fm I've done 20 hours of listening in the last week, and that includes very little on commutes as I've mostly been watching Orphan Black on the train.

First, I hope you take the tube, or some kind of public transit!  :lol  Second... impressive to fire off 20 hours/week of music listening!

Well if you do it, count me in, I'm sure I got an album or two you haven't heard.

I'd be interested too.  Perusing your last.fm, I've got plenty from my proggy side of the library to whet your whistle.  Plus, I gotta have a chance to beat RJ somehow.

Hello kids,

Been contemplating hosting another roulette since the start of lonestar's, and I've made up my mind. Bolsters, put me on that list for a v3 . I want to do an elimination style roulette too this time around, with around 10 players. If anyone wants to sign up early lemme know here or in PM, and if there's gonna be too many people I'll do a round 0 elimination as well.
people on this board are actual music fans who developed taste in music and not casual listeners who are following current fashion trends and listening to only current commercial hits.
