Why wait? We run three at a time. Sacul is in his final round and will be ending.

He answered that already :P

I may take one up after ReaperKK’s is done. I’m enjoying that one, and it gives me a better read in the situation to watch it meet it’s conclusion, from the view of a participant,  first.

I want to kinda get a feel for how these album rounds play out. But could be as soon as July 1st. How much time should I give to gather entries?

Deadeye, basically start a thread announcing your Roulette and the format. There's tons of Roulette OPs to see how they're formatted. You'll have enough participants within a day or two. It depends what your format is and how many people you want.

would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related

As a new roulette host, the only thing I would guard against is that what can start out as fun, can truly turn into a chore about 2/3rds of the way through. Depending on how much music you plan on listening to each round, plus the writeups, all while trying to keep from people dozing off can be quite a job.

My advice too, and I've done only a few roulettes, is that you set aside a certain number of songs a day to listen to, I'd listen to 3-4 songs a day and do the write-ups. For me at least tackling 16 songs from a prog rock form in on session can be exhausting.

That’s advice I definitely needed. Starting to come up to two weeks of school break which means I’ll have a lot more time though.

Appreciating the help. I’ve got an idea for a round that might be tricky to implement, but keen to give it a shot. Just need to finalise what order I’ll do things in and then I’m posting it.

Deadeye—there's no wrong way to run a roulette so long as you're getting something out of it, actively checking in, and not taking weeks for updates. In fact, I think the simplest roulettes are often the best. Don't feel like you need to have any crazy themes, unless that's what you want, or even that you have to provide first impressions.

I don't have RYM. I just come up with a list of banned artists by scrolling through my library. However you want to determine whether artists are banned or not is up to you.

Fair enough. I don’t think I’ll ban too many. Probably just DT, Leppard, Maiden, Metallica and Rush actually. I’m too familiar with their works not to bump it up if it comes in.

I definitely agree with this. While I enjoyed listening to the music sent all the way through in my first roulette, I got really burned out around halfway through and I struggled to find motivation to continue when it felt like I had a huge amount of work to do. This was partially because I did have a large amount of music to listen to; I had nearly 20 people sending me music each round! If I have any advice to add on top of this, it's that I would recommend having some sort of limitation on how many people can join and/or how many songs can be sent each round. In hindsight, I think that would've helped me stay on track better in the roulette I did.

Yeah, I've been dabbling with that idea for quite a while.. my last roulette was 4 years ago already. It's just finding the time to listen to all the submissions and doing them justice by writing stuff about them that's difficult for me now :(

After playing in a couple of roulettes, I've been thinking of maybe running one myself. But something I thought of doing is having playoff rounds at the end so the top players are not as predictable. I don't think I have enough free time to do so now though.
