You definitely didn't suck, you reached the semi finals. Kaelling and Euphoreon in particular have stuck really well with me.

It'd be a pleasure to have everyone back who has participated before, as well as any newcomers.

Add me! I need external incentive (read: roulette participations) to get me back to DTF. I haven’t been on in a few months and I don’t know how to get back :(

I've been feeling the draw toward running another roulette recently, but in reflecting on my roulette experience, I've realized that I really mainly enjoy the first and last few rounds of a roulette. When I first start, I'm really excited at getting to listen and score new music, but over the course of many weeks it can start to be a bit much. I often slow down in my pace and it's not fun for me or the participants because I feel put upon and they feel neglected.

So I would like, if possible, to sign up for a short mini-roulette. Probably two or three regular rounds and then an EP round, and that's it. I don't know how that would work with standings chart or whatever, but this is the type of game that would be most fun for me, so I'd like to sign up to do it if possible.
And if spirit's a sign,
Then it's only a matter of time

Like Cyril said, there's no real distinction made between the two. A mini roulette is still a roulette, you can do whatever you want. :tup

So yeah, I think I will indeed be ready to go once Seneca reaches his final round. Haven't decided on the exact format yet but here's a sneak peak of my current thinking:
 - Album roulette again.
 - Prelim round 0 will be one song from the album everyone plans to send in round 1, so I don't need any limit on the number of prelim people but can still do it quickly.
 - Probably stick with open rounds again rather than themes, worked well last time.
 - Think I'll score differently this time, based on relative ranking (either largely or wholly) rather than absolute ratings. Means bigger gaps between people, but also means things can change more suddenly. Also means less incentive to play it safe.
 - Might do a greatest hits and/or concept album round to get some more creativity.
 - Eliminations after a certain number of rounds, but no knockout stage this time. Simple totalling up of scores including in the final round.

Almost won the first, instantly eliminated in the second one, what can possibly go wrong? Except this time I think I know what to send. I'll play in that.
This first band is Soen very cool swingy jazz fusion kinda stuff.

Yeah and as I recall you very nearly got instantly eliminated in the first one too. :lol So, you know, up your first round game, because your performance after that was cracking and Insomnium in particular are now one of my favourite bands.

Yeah, I had to play a tiebreaker and only got in because of Jon Lord. Won three rounds in a row after that. :lol

So, when should I be expecting to start? Ariich said he's planning to start when Seneca finishes, but Buddyhunter just finished as well? Are we going down to three at a time and thus I should be expecting to start when either Bizkit or Tomislav finishes?

Yeah 3 at a time is the perfect amount. It's enough to keep things interesting around here, but not so much that it's overwhelming for people who participate in all 3 at the same time.

Yeah it's 3 at a time, there's always just a short overlap as new ones start during the final round of one that's completing (eg Bizkit starting when Buddy reached his final).

Gotcha. I haven't been following roulettes too closely, and just assumed it was four because there seemed to have been four running at a time for a little while now. I will plan accordingly!
