It's interesting how in both Star Wars and Star Trek - the 2nd film is regarded the best and the 5th film is regarded the worst

I'd say Ep 1 is regarded lower than Ep 2.

It is interesting that the second is considered the best in both cases (and that one isn't arguable in either case), since sequels are often considered weaker.

I think TPM at least has the Podrace which is an entertaining set piece.

AOTC has nothing. It has that awful romance sub plot and not much else.

The podrace wasn't that interesting, and kid Anakin accidentally saving the day is so much worse than anything in AOTC. And AOTC has Christopher Lee.

I think i've failed to watch Episode II on numerous occasions

It was on TV one day and I found it incredibly boring and hard to follow.

I don't think we could add anything that hasn't been said in the Red Letter Media reviews.

I don't know or care what some internet review says. But I find Ep 1 literally unwatchable. It brings me physical pain every time that kid is on screen.

But let's just agree that all the prequels are garbage, and are only remembered or liked because they're called Star Wars.

If The Phantom Menace was a brand new Sci-Fi . It wouldnt have made $1bn and it definitely wouldn't have gotten a sequel.

Judging by the significantly lower takings of AOTC, I think I can say a lot of the money TPM made came from being the first new Star Wars since 1983.

Even though I'm not really a Star Wars fan, the new movie looks like it's going to be genuinely good.

And I've got my ticket to see Spectre tomorrow night.

I've enjoyed all of the Daniel Craig Bond movies at the cinema, even QoS. Skyfall was my favourite of all the Craig movies, so I have no doubt I'll enjoy Spectre similarly. I judge much more leniently with Bond films than I do with scifi.

I loved Spectre. At no point did any of it's 140 mins drag or I checked my watch.

Naturally there's the usual " omg worst film ever made " crowd. But fuck em.

Eh, I don't go into a Bond movie expecting an iron clad plot and realism. As long as it's Bondish, I'll probably be more than happy. That style isn't for everyone, but there are plenty of other movies for that.

Apart from Skyfall - it's probably the most "Bond" of the last 4.

And they've put jokes back in too. Which were sorely lacking in the last couple of films.

I would never do that because
1) I'm allergic to photons, and

It wouldn't make it blurry, it would make it dark due to the dynamic range difference.
