Hello folks, and welcome to this roulette of mine. My Top 50 list has just been finished, and after eight months of waiting, it’s finally my turn, and here we go. I’m looking for ten players.

It’s the first time I’m hosting such thing, so the rules will be quite simple: classic eight rounds, the odd-numbered rounds are open, the even-numbered rounds are themed. Like this:

Round 1: Open (Length limit: 10 minutes)
Round 2: Themed: Ballads (Length limit: 10 minutes)
Round 3: Open (Length limit: 10 minutes)
Round 4: Themed: Two or more vocalists (Length limit: 10 minutes)
Round 5: Open (Length limit: 15 minutes)
Round 6: Themed: Short epic (Length limit: 6 minutes)

(cut-off line, six players are eliminated)

Round 7: Open: Two songs (Length limit for two songs: 20 minutes)
Round 8: Themed: Epic (Length limit: none)

If your song goes beyond the length limit for less than 30 seconds, it’s alright. For example, you can send a 10:29 song for the first round. However, every next 30 seconds will result in losing a point, for example, 10/10 song clocking at 10:31 will receive 9 points, at 11:01 — 8 points and so on.

This brings us to the scoring system. I’ll rank each song out of ten, and whoever has the most points after Round 8, well, wins the whole thing. No special points, no handicaps, nothing. It’s that easy. Here are the milestones for ranking the songs:

2.5 – bad
5.0 – average
7.5 – good
10 – perfection

So basically if you get more than 5 points for your song, it’s above average, and that’s a good thing. The artists whose song will receive 7.5 and more points are banned for the rest of roulette. My goal for this roulette is to discover new awesome bands, so, please, keep this in mind.

That brings us to banned artists and my overall tastes in music. I’ve recently finished my Top 50 albums list and I’ve got a neat recap of it here, so you can check it out to get a general grasp on my tastes. I mostly enjoy power metal, prog metal, hard rock, prog rock and such stuff. I do not enjoy a lot of djenty approach, growls, thrash, rap and electronic music, and probably a lot of other stuff, but you’re welcome to try, because, well, there are always some exceptions. While I enjoy classical music, please refrain from sending it in this roulette.

So, the banned artists list! It’s going to be a bit long probably, and not all the bands here are the ones I enjoy, so be careful.

Surely I forgot some other bands, so I’ll just return your song if I’ve already heard it. Don’t take offense at that. If you’re not sure if the band is eligible or not, ask away. Also, I’ve been following some roulettes and therefore listening to some often appearing songs, so your usual choices may be not eligible here. Songs like Anciients – Raise the Sun; Kevin Gilbert – Song for a Dead Friend; David Maxim Micic – Where is Now? and I think about ten more are not eligible too.

How to send files: via PM. I can also give you my e-mail, if needed. MP3 files are preferable, because I can upload them on my phone and listen to your songs at work or on the road. You can use MEGA to upload the files. Youtube links are alright too. Please, absolutely no Spotify, as it’s not available in my country. Also, please provide the artist and the song’s name in PM to avoid any confusion.

And I guess that covers it all. As I said, I’m looking for ten players. Two less or two more will be fine too, so don’t hesitate to sign in. The first round will start as soon as there’ll be enough players.

I know I never posted in your top 50 albums list, but I did check in a couple times to see what all you had there and seeing your tastes, I think I can find you something that you will enjoy.

Everyone is welcome to join in, regardless of following and posting in my top 50 albums list. I'm expecting some great stuff from you. :tup

Also, if Kade confirms his participation, that means I've got five players already. That's awesome!

edit: and now with Mason on board, we're up to six players already. Wow!

Well, I guess I kind of have to play in the roueltte of the guy who beat me so damn close in Saculs roulette, so count me in. Just don't expect any power metal from me, pretty much all power metal bands I listen to are already on your list ::)

This. Also, did you like that David Maxim Micic song?

The intro was kind of cool, but the vocals lost me quite quickly. Overall, too random and happy for me, sorry. I see how it can be appealing for someone, but it's just not my cup of tea. Probably 5/10 if I had to rank it, exactly in the middle, and the best part is the keyboards and that awesome bass/violin break (until the vocals come in, because that scat thing is totally miss for me). And after that break the song just loses me. Sorry man, just not my thing.

So that makes 9 players already! I said I'm looking for ten players, and I'm willing to extend the limit to 12 (not more, though), but if no one else will join, nine will be alright too. I'm off to sleep now, so let's see if anyone else will join, and the first round will probably start tomorrow, so you guys should get ready to blow my mind with your awesome music.

Nope, just two songs, no restrictions except the banned artists list and the overall length. May be from one artist, may be from two different ones, whatever you want.

So, that makes ten people. If anyone else wants to join, welcome, if not, the first round starts tomorrow when I get back from work.

Your top 50 was the first of that kind I read and I liked it, so I'll join. But I'll be hard pressed to find decent stuff that is not banned with that list (basically my entire music collection is banned)  :lol Still, it seems like a fun game and I am sure there is some stuff in the back of my head  ;D

Four people are in already, you guys are fast.

Oh, and regarding eliminations, since we've got 12 players participating, the elimination after Round 6 will cut this number in half - only six players will remain after that.
