That remembrance date looks like a fucking IP address. But yeah, this troubled soul is finally at peace (I guess).

"Let's suck a dick" - Scott Weiland

Condoms? Um, are they like a dream theater souvenir?  Where can I find those condoms? That'd be really nice to havr.

The sad part is that this is about the least surprising thing that could happen.

I loved STP's first album when I was a kid.  It was a monster.

He was an odd duck.  Talented, yes, way better singer than he got credit for, but troubled from the get-go.

I have none of his solo works, but everything he ever put out in STP and Velvet Revolver, and it always seemed like he was 95% there. Almost great, but not quite over the line.

I've heard "heroin", and I've heard "died in his sleep", though I suppose they are not mutually exclusive.

It's such a shame. So much talent wasted because of drug addiction. I know there's no official cause of death yet but does anyone really think it's anything else?

Not being insensitive at all, but the most shocking thing about this death is that it didn't happen sooner.
Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

Aye. A shame, but unfortunately yet another casualty of rock excess. Most did know something would give eventually.

He was in total denial to mostly the end too- a terrible part of addiction. That performance that made news was absolutely dreadful, yet he denied being on hard drugs. He wasn't ready to face his demons.

When those videos came out earlier this year of him looking completely wasted and having trouble singing or even talking / moving - everyone was like

" yep - he's a goner ".

I too am not surprised that he finally did himself in, but am surprised that it didn't happen sooner.
Regardless, he was a great singer and I've always liked STP.  So sad :(

NBC just played Trippin on a Hole in a Paper Heart when going to their first commercial break during the game. Very nice of them to do.

Well said. All too often we as a society focus on the dead instead of the loved ones who are stuck living with the pain. Scott is at rest but his children won't be for a long time.

During the Pats/Eagles game on Sunday, the Pats PA played Sex Type Thing at the first stoppage in play, as well.

Sad  :'(   This guy, with the smooth baritone -and instantly recognizable- voice probably could have been a superstar if he just could have found a way to manage his disease.

So,. so true.  His voice could fit so many styles of music.

Saw that one, and as a father whose addictions pretty much broke any normal relations with my kid and I, it was a brutal read.

Not to spark debate on a topic like this, but
https://www.alternativenation.net/scott-weiland-was-reportedly-upset-that-he-couldnt-see-his-children/

It's not that it matters much now to be honest, and it doesn't change the fact that drugs took the best of him. I hope Scott has found peace wherever he is.
