Porcupine Tree Survivor - Recordings - Round 1

In terms of album tournaments, we're now halfway through the Survivor! We currently have 7 songs in Consolation, and 14 booked for the Finals. This is tournament number 8 of 14, for the Recordings album, a collection of extra tracks from the Stupid Dream and Lightbulb Sun sessions, originally released in 2001.

As usual, the Top 2 will go to the Finals and 3rd place will enter Consolation.

Access Denied. I remember reading somewhere that Steven Wilson was the only member of the band who liked that song at all, and I can kinda see why.

Also, if Untitled goes out in the first few rounds I will be very sad.

Well listen to the rest! These are stunning songs! This is a very strong album in its own right, despite not being an official studio album.

Access Denied really reminds me of The Beatles for some reason. Something about the tone of the song, or SW's voice, or the piano, or a combination of all three. It's a very simple song, but I also really like it. Similar to how people wanted "How is your Life Today?" voted off in the first round of LBS, I feel like the "simple" songs often are criminally overlooked. They're not as cool or flashy as the longer and more advanced songs, but sometimes the simplest things are the most effective ones.
