My band, Beauty Of Decay
« on: December 07, 2014, 08:02:28 PM »
Hey guys! Wanna actually hear me drum? With a band this time?

My band, Beauty Of Decays is in the midst of writing our second album (the first album with myself on drums and first with a new vocalist and bassist.) I've been in the band since Summer 2013 and the band has opened for many huge bands that have come to Minnesota including Cannibal Corpse, Morbid Angel, Suffocation, Nile and a lot more.

The first album is much more in the Groove Metal side of Death Metal but since I joined the band, the band has gotten much more progressive and experimental, but still groovy. I like to describe it as The Frank Zappa of Death Metal.

The biggest improvement in the entire band is the vocals. No more Core vocals, all pure Death Metal. When hearing back out latest songs, it is very comparable to Nick Holmes style growls.

We just put up a live practice demo of a brand new song on our ReverbNation paged called Watch You Cry, which easily has some of the most insane drumming I have ever done in my life. Also on the ReverbNation page is two songs from the debut album, Transparent, End Of All, and No Choice (Transparent and No choice are being re-recorded for the new album in the way we play the songs now.)

IN speaking of that, starting in January, we will be recording the second album and making it hopefully one of the best Metal albums of 2015. But I'll let you guys be the judge of that!

Check out Watch You Cry and let me know what you think!

I'm very into this! It's gonna be hard to nail the right production style for this, but hopefully you can pull it off. Definitely reminds me a lot of the weirdest death and melodeath methulz of the 90's, and it does have some cool twists, like early Leprous gone death metal. The vocals are excellent.

Thank you very much!  :metal

Yeah, the production is going to be a bit hard to pull off for instruments involved, but the way I look at it, if it already sounds this good with all 5 of us playing at practice with just a touch of after-production EQ and mixing, the album should sound stellar when we do full on recording. We've got a lot of new equipment invested in the recording side of things so I know once we all sit down, aoll 5 of us  should be able to hear everything this needs to make a killer 2015 album.

Thanks again for the kind words!

You are too kind, thank you so much!

I should also add that the two other Live Practice Demos will be up either next week or the week after. We wanna figure out which two songs we wanna release before recording the album.

One song for sure is called I, Misanthrope which is the closest song we have (of the new songs) to being radio friendly, and even that is batshit crazy! The other song will either be one called Sullen Wreck which is a two minute song that goes that contains signatures of 14/32, 21/32, and 9/8 (I'm still having a hard time playing this right 100% of the time) and a song called True Grit which contains a lot of 7/8 and one of my favorite moments in all the songs I have helped write. That one still needs some lyrics finalized. But yeah I can't wait for everyone to hear these songs. I'm glad you dig it.

Thanks!

Definitely planning on it. We got sidetracked for 3 months for several issues, but we are now back on track.

Actually this Saturday we are having our whole band practiced recorded with multi-camera and sound by a professional we know here in Minnesota and if all goes right, that will be up in the next few weeks.

As far as studio recordings. We are deciding whether we want to do a 5-6 song EP or a 10+ song album. We currently have 9 songs completely written. We will be deciding in the next couple weeks what will work best for us.

We also have a headlining show coming up May 30th in Minneapolis featuring local bands Ghost Hook, Daigoro, and The Culture Of. All 3 bands are killer! The show will also be streamed on 13sradio.com

Update!

We are about 2 songs away from having the next album written. The songcrafting process has been approached carefully, with no reverence, and great passion. We will unleash these new soundscapes to your earhole soon, and you will swear that Odin himself just ear raped you with Mt.Olympus.

Very unfortunate news. Our vocalist, Shane, has stepped down from Beauty Of Decay due to not being able to fully commit to the band.

We will be on the lookout for a new singer, pretty much, effective immediately.

Fortunately, this doesn't hurt the writing process for the album as we are almost done writing and hopefully will be recording in the near future.
