The Mercury Tree - (modern mathy prog)

A call to any current fans and/or a suggested band I suppose.

This band and their new album "Countenance" is pretty addictive if you're into modern mathy prog. Sure, they do share some qualities with that other band many enjoy around here with the word "Tree" in their name, but I wouldn't call them a clone or even as obviously influenced by PT or Steven Wilson as even some other bands (Abigail's Ghost for example).

Thanks for the news! Permutations was a brilliant album, I did not listen to it many times but it deserved great reviews.
I missed their latest release and I am curious if they will get more experimental than in Permutations in their next album

Quote
A mammoth project of over two years, this is our first full-length album composed entirely in microtonal tuning using 17 notes per octave. Using an assortment of custom-built instruments and synthetic sounds, and a newly expanded lineup, we've tried to craft something that's beautiful yet completely unfamiliar. We hope these novel pitches, typically rarely heard by the average music listener, will introduce you to an alien and fascinating world, yet one that's still rich with humanity and emotion.

I'll have to give it a spin, I listened to Pterodactyls a few years back, very tweaky shit, but fun nonetheless.
