NO!!!! The only surprising result from the album tournaments. Over the past two years the longest songs are now 23-1.

AAH! SO close to being 12-0 for longest songs! (And yes, towards the end I actually wanted that to happen.)

Thanks for running the album tournaments. Very fascinating. Bring on the Division Tournaments!

TGP won on a technicality.  SDOIT is still best song on the album.  :p

Two people on the SDOIT Championship thread said they missed the vote, but would've voted for the title track, so there's that as well.

Well, in that case, Home won on technicality too, so it's still 11-1 for the longest songs.

Is the best song on the album, based on the opinions of 36 people.

Also, some people, including me, may have voted on a song without considering it the best song on the album, because it had already been eliminated.

I like how I'm being deputized into the pro SDOIT song argument when I said in my post that SDOIT is my least favorite DT album by a mile.

Not saying I'm not enjoying it :P Just be careful what you wish for when trying to give credence to my opinion on this album! :lol

As a result of the Division 2 & 3 Quarterfinal matches, the Division Promotions have been decided, provide that we continue with this format in 2016:

As I Am, Lost Not Forgotten, The Shattered Fortress & Hollow Years would be promoted to Division 2.

Surrounded, Misunderstood, Endless Sacrifice & Lifting Shadows off a Dream would be promoted to Division 1.

Also, Octavarium, Breaking All Illusions, A Change of Seasons & Learning to Live have made the Final Four of the Division 1 tournament. These are the exact same four songs that made it to the final four of the 2014 Championship Tournament.

Tournament Semifinals begin tomorrow.

Maybe looking too far into the future, but I wonder what the chances are of one or more of the newly-promoted songs reaching the Championship Tournament of their new divisions next year, ie. placing in the Top 16. It'd be pretty cool if they did. It'd be even more bizarre if a song achieved successive promotions (from 3 to 2 this year, then 2 to 1 next year).

Octavarium has won our league for the second year in a row. On top of that, it went undefeated each of the last two years.

To everyone who participated in any of the over 1000 matches that we had over the past 8 months, thank you! This was a lot of fun.  We'll reconvene in late November to decide on if we'd like to have a 2016 season, and if so, what format it should be, and what to do with potential new music.

Personally, i would put The Glass Prison in the top 10 instead of Breaking All Illusions.
Also, i would like to see Fatal Tragedy, Beyond This Life and Blind Faith a bit higher but, at least, they're in Division 1 already.

Nonetheless, strong top 16 if you ask me.  :tup

Octavarium deserves to be undefeated two years in a row. It's the textbook definition of masterpiece.

Octavarium, a more than worthy Champion! An incredible song; my favourite album closer by any band. Congrats also to As I Am and Surrounded for winning their divisions as well.

Bravo and thanks DoC! This is quite an undertaking, what with the setting up matches and working out averages and all. I for one hope that we get to do it again next year. The League (and before it the Survivor) is a great annual DTF tradition.

Thanks for this fun tournament, Doc! It was my first rime to participate and I love it!

I hope Breaking All Illusions would have another great run next time. And I also wish the DT12 songs would do better. :)

Some things to ponder for the next tournament, I guess:

Is there some way to get this linked in the main forum? Polls there get much much more votes.

How will the release date of the next album affect the tournament sched?

I'm not sure if a Moderator can put a link to the league on the main forum. Would be worth looking into. I wouldn't want to spam the heck out of the DT forum with links, or the polls itself. This game, and the survivor before it has been a thing here since 2005, so I'm thinking that most of the old-heads know what the deal is. The challenge would be to get the word out to the newer users without spamming the other forums.

But I will say, I don't actually mind the number of voters that we have. The other Survivor runners would kill to have 30 plus voters in their games.

As for next year, I think keeping it from December-July is the way to go. I don't think that the new songs should be included, as it would be nice to give us a few months to digest them. Perhaps we could do a DT-13 Tournament when we do the other album tournaments, and the results of that tournament could determine which divisions the DT-13 songs would join for the 2017 season.  We'll see. Plenty of time, and plenty of ways to have fun with this.

How will the release date of the next album affect the tournament sched?

As for next year, I think keeping it from December-July is the way to go. I don't think that the new songs should be included, as it would be nice to give us a few months to digest them. Perhaps we could do a DT-13 Tournament when we do the other album tournaments, and the results of that tournament could determine which divisions the DT-13 songs would join for the 2017 season.  We'll see. Plenty of time, and plenty of ways to have fun with this.

I don't think it would be fair to just put the best songs from the new album into division one or the worst songs into division three. Maybe if you do a mini league where you put all of the songs from the new album against two songs from each division as well to see how they do against already established songs as well as against each other.
