Who else loves the rockin'est, rocksteady beat of Madness?
« on: January 10, 2021, 07:46:20 AM »
Up until a few months ago, I had never heard anything by this band except Our House, but they are much more than that.  It's this kind of unique blend of ska, pop and new wave.  They have a lot of good songs, and their videos are always hysterical.  They always look like they are having a blast.  I cannot get enough of songs like House of Fun, Shut Up, Michael Caine, It Must Be Love, Baggy Trousers, and, of course One Step Beyond (!!).

I haven't heard many songs by them, but the few I have heard I really like them. Their videos are really fun!

House of Fun is such an underrated classic.
People figured out that the white thing that comes out of cows' titties could be drunk, and the relation between sweet desires and women's bellies growing up for 9 months. It can't be THAT hard to figure out how a trumpet works.”

I didn't think I was a fan - but then a Madness Tribute Band played at my old job - and not only did I know every song but I realised I liked every song.

Welcome aboard. If your getting into that stuff. Look into The Specials as well....

I am not sure I have ever heard of The Specials.  Any songs to recommend?

Hmmm, I can't say I have ever heard that.  It sounded okay.  Didn't have the immediate impact that a lot of the Madness songs did, but that style is not usually in my wheelhouse, so not all of it is likely to grab me.
