Been listening to Devin properly for about a year an a half now so going to try and rate all the albums that I've heard up until this point, this should be interesting as I rate quite a few of his albums at about the same level.

11. Ziltoid the Omniscient

That was a lot harder than I thought. Ghost and CoC are my most recent purchases and I'm sure they will go up in my rankings once they get as many listens as the others but at the moment I don't find anything sinking in when I listen. It's just good background music to my ears at the moment.

Just need to get Ki now

I just feel that Dark Matters is more fleshed out and I like how theatrical it is. You can kinda tell that ZTO is just Devin being a one man band (Which I respect) and I understand the importance of ZTO and what it represents to Devin but I just enjoy Dark Matters more. Even though some of the dialogue is ridiculous

Yea, that's kind of why I have left Ki, Ghost and CoC until my last purchases as from what I have read up on them they seemed least likely to be my favourites.

Then again, I liked Synchestra and Physicist much more than I thought I would based on others opinions.

Ki is still my favorite Devin album. It took a while to grow on me though; when I first listened to it nothing really stuck out to me at all.

Ki is middle ranking Dev material. Some great songs, some not so great songs.

And as I said some pages ago, Casualties Of Cool is really growing on me. When I first heard it, I was shocked how boring it was, but now that I've given it another chance I really start to like it. It's all about the atmosphere and you have to be in the right mood to appreciate it.

But I still think it's a bit too long and I still think it sounds like country.

I'm through 7 full albums now for the first time and I want to write down how I would rank them right now, should be fun to look back at this when I'm more familiar with them and see how different I would've done it.

Really can't rank any of the songs yet apart from a couple of definite standouts but I'm not gonna bother with it just yet.

I completely agree. If I only listened to each album one time and made my ultimate judgement, I wouldn't even be a fan. Some of these albums took many listens to click, and now he's one of my favorite musicians.

Finally got Ki today, I really like it on first impression. Now I finally have the original 4 DTP releases, I need to listen to them in the order Devin intended. Probably how I will spend my Thursday night.

Inside Out should do a vinyl box. Re-cut Ki and Addicted properly (the Back on Black pressings have some... worrying issues), have Troy Glessner master the whole thing... it'd be epic. Was kinda surprised he didn't bother doing it for Contain Us: would've cost twice as much, but a 'super deluxe' with all 4 on vinyl would've been the shit.

And the Z2 vinyl box sold fast, so there's precedence now.

I think Ki may grow to be one of my favourites. Quite a lot that I am liking after only 2 listens. Some of it reminds of stuff from Epiclouder and I really like that album a lot.

for liking Epiclouder. So many great songs on that, and I love how varied in sound it is - you have Ki-esque stuff like Quietus right next to SYL-like stuff like Socialization, and it works amazingly.

I've just started with Ocean Machine and I think that will grow on me, haven't checked out other stuff yet. The Hummer and Devlab were the first two albums that I really loved, after I checked out the Contain Us box set. Casualties didn't grab my interest at first, but it's one of my most played albums for a month now, really love it.

For putting OM:B and Terria so low, yes, you should. For putting Z2 at the bottom, you shouldn't. As for putting Devlab and The Hummer that high... well, it's just a matter of taste entertainment folks!

I feel like I should like Terria better, and the first 10 minutes or so are awesome, but then it sorta stops. And I think Ocean Machine will climb a lot, I keep watching the Royal Albert Hall show for Funeral, Basterd and The Death of Music (well and Deadhead, so I guess Accelerated Evolution's next)
