Has this video been posted yet? It's a well-produced, entertaining analysis of Devin Townsend as a musician and focuses on a few albums in particular. 15 minutes well spent if you're a fan.

There's nothing to be said about it really. He hasn't given any insight. We don't even know if it's an actual symphony (four movements, very specific requirements for each) or just one orchestral piece.

I predict a callback to some melodies from Deconstruction, though.

He says he's thinking about putting it on the bonus disc for the new album.
I guess it'll be a bunch of B-Sides/Demos similar to the bonus discs from Epicloud and Casualties.


So next year we have:
Casualties of Cool re-release
His Autobiography + the Acoustic EP("Iceland") + Cassette tape of bonus material + whatever else he includes
Transcendence + Bonus disc
and hopefully the Symphony("Moth")

2016 will surely be the year of Devy

Holy shit... that's awesome. I didn't know about the CoC rerelease, what's different about it?

And I'm glad to hear that Stars is going to be officially released in some capacity, it's a super catchy tune and I really it despite it's simplicity (or perhaps because of it...not everything needs to be so 'deep', constructed and a mindfuck of complexities).

I'm ready for it!

Preorders aren't up yet for this, eh? The Opeth one was just up recently and I recall Dev tweeting about finishing it a couple months ago, so I doubt it's ready yet (at least need recording time). That's gonna be an instabuy for me – I can resist the DT and Opeth bios, but not Dev.

To my knowledge, the book is finished and sent to the publisher, and the Iceland EP was recorded months ago and has hopefully gone through mixing/mastering by now. I'd expect at least a release date by the end of January

He considered taking a break after the Royal Albert Hall gig but decided against it because the rest of his band/crew rely on recording/touring with him for most of their income. At least that's how I understand it.
