Be Here Now is pretty good but it has layers upon layers upon layers with distorted guitars. It's like a wall of sound. Lots of coke and partying in the studio dragged that album down.
And Noel has said that he wish they didn't do the Giants album.
I think this is one of the reasons why I like it so much.
Every oasis album that came out - I loved it immediately and then they usually revealed their true colours - except for Definitely Maybe, Morning Glory and the final two.
I thought the sequencing was weird on Heathen Chemistry. I'd have removed " A Quick Peep " and replaced it with " Thank You For The Good Times "
and also i'd have included the full band version of " Songbird ".
It's like by that time they were putting better songs on B sides for the sake of it. I Think HC suffered as a result whereas MG was outstanding even without The Masterplan or
Acquiesce on it.
Although can you imagine if MG did have those two songs on ?! Imagine the Masterplan finishing side 1 and Champagne Supernova finishing side two.
I guess these days with iTunes you can do that but at the time the album would have been like
how can they top this !?
I was a HUGE oasis fan. Like properly huge. But even when I listened to BHN I could tell it was getting a bit samey. It wasn't until DBTT that I felt like they were properly back.
And Alan was *easily* their best drummer. By Miles.
