Expecting a report for the Good Times show on Friday!

 :metal

The Good Times show would be more your thing Tim.  A bunch of old "rockers" from the 60's all together as a "supergroup."   Luckily it is sponsored by Australian Pensioners Insurance so they should be covered in the event that anyone on stage or in the audience finds it all a bit much.

My thing? :lol

Hey, as long as I have one of these..

..I should be OK.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

I thought that was shit. Admittedly I listened with the volume quiet so I’ll give it another go when the kids are in bed.

There is just something about Primal Fear that I just cannot get into. Definitely not a Sheepers fan.

Wouldn't quite call it shit, but it was a little on the mediocre side.

I liked it, and thought it was a little different even though you could tell there was some reused ideas, if that makes sense.

I must say, I really don't like Alex's guitar playing anyway. I would almost call that shit.

Listened again as a decent volume. Totally loved it. I liked those Eastern vibes. Moral of the story, metal needs to be played loud. Who knew?

New Fifth Angel album dropping in September. It will be called The Third Secret. First album under the Fifth Angel name in almost 30 years (Time Will Tell was released in 1989).

The band now only consists of Kendall Bechtel (vocals/guitar), Ken Mary (drums), and John Macko (bass). All three of them played on Time Will Tell. Ed Archer (guitars and the last founding member) is gone, as is Peter Orullian on vocals. I am sure for live gigs, they'll add another guitarist.

Kendall is an outstanding singer, so I am sure he will do a fine job. He sang on James Byrd (ex-Fifth Angel lead guitars) record called Crimes of Virtuosity under the name Kendall Tory.

I just checked out some song samples from the James Byrd project with Kendall Bechtel singing.  Really good singer, I think he will fit in well with the Fifth Angel sound.

There is definitely a chance this will be weak, but I'm leaning towards betting that it will be better than expected.  I'm a big fan of Fifth Angel's two albums, and I'm quite surprised that a third album is coming out.  For me, I'm sure I'll like it a lot more than others (not including Brian lol).

There are actually 4 cult metal bands from the 80's/early 90's that I had always hoped would release one more album- Fifth Angel, Sword, Lethal and Crimson Glory.  And this year Fifth Angel will definitely release one.  And both Sword and Lethal have announced that they are recording an album with an expected release date this year.  So that just leaves Crimson Glory, but I'm not expecting anything else from them.

It's a shame that Crimson Glory never did an album with TLT while they had the chance.

Fifth Angel's first album is still one of my all-time, top-5 favorite records. I won't deny that. The love for that record, for me, is up there with Mindcrime. I love Time Will Tell, but skip around a lot, including the ballads. It hasn't aged as well for me, but I still dig on Cathedral, Seven Hours, and We Rule quite a bit. I dig the record, just not quite at the uber level of the first one.

As for the new record, I have a huge bias. I've known these guys personally for almost 15 years now. With the exception of one guy (who is a close friend and unfortunately isn't on this project), I've backed away a bit, because I just want to enjoy the tunes for what they are. But if you have Kendall Bechtel, Ken Mary, and John Macko working on a project, I am pretty sure it will sound good. It really is a shame Ed isn't a part of it, because he was the main music writer in the band (those are 95 percent his riffs and arrangements on those first two Fifth Angel albums). Ed gave those records their sound. And I noted that they sidestepped talking about it in the press announcement. I am sure when they get closer to release, they'll do interviews and address it.

But with the high level of musicianship and songwriting of the three guys who wrote and recorded The Third Secret, I can't imagine it not being pretty good. Maybe not as brilliant as the self-titled first album, but I am sure they stripped away the poppier vibe of Time Will Tell. (Gut feeling, by choice I have not heard anything other than a couple of early demos that have since been re-worked.)

I'm just happy for John, Kendall, and Ken that they got their record deal and now will put something out. They've wanted to for a long time.

I’ve just heard Ralph Santolla has passed away. Always enjoyed his Eyewitness album.

Edit. Might have been given fake news though he has had a heart attack and is in a coma. Doesn’t look good

Meant to post this - with you in mind - the other day and forgot.  Good news (relatively speaking) if he is still in fact in the coma .

We're probably 2 of the few with an original Now & Then copy of that Eyewitness album  :lol

EDIT:  Sadly it seems your original version is correct.   R.I.P.  Ralph :(

I'm off to see Mr Big and Extreme tonight - it's a sell out and both bands have a great live reputation so I expect to be impressed.

Should be a great gig. Would love to see that bill. When Extreme did the Pornograffitti tour her a year or two back I was ill at the time and couldn’t go. Was gutted.

I've seen both multiple times and they always delivered. But then that was some years ago but I think they still can bring it.
Must've been Kwyji sending all the wrong songs.   ;D

Down here mate we can sell out both , even though for the most part we don't give a shit about rugby.  We just go to stuff  :lol

In the spirit of taking one for the team.........the new Tad Morose is bloody awful.  I can't believe they have stuck with the current singer for 3 albums.   :-\

It is a tad surprising that an 80000 seat stadium will fill out for a game based on QLD and NSW.

The Tad Morose I blindly purchased a few months ago was pretty ordinary, so definitely won't be checking that out Brent lol.

If you want a quality Tad Morose album check out Modus Vivendi, Undead etc.......the ones from the early 2000's with Urban Breed on vox.   The production is a bit muddy but songs like Take On The World kick some power metal ass.  Even Sender of Thoughts from the mid 90's ...........one of my earlier power prog metal purchases so I have a soft spot for it.

The recent stuff is pretty rubbish.

You must be psychic Tim. I was admitted to hospital again last night. Going to be surgery this time. Just want it done with now. I'm getting well looked after. There has to be some perks to working in the NHS.
