Yeah - he's also done a bit with Glenn Hughes and currently in Payne's version of Asia - well respected musician.   I'm not huge into any current form of Asia ( was never a huge fan period) but I do find Payne's posturing quite hilarious.

just finished 1988 part 2

I thought the Veto, Sword, and Vice tracks were really good.  That Vice cover!!

Didn't really care for Sacred Warrior's vocals.  And what was up with all the bass drum kicks all over the place?  Seems like he went a little overboard.

The other Tarot song you played on an earlier podcast was Descendants Of Power.

Aside from the stupid chorus, I thought Beneath Da' Coconuts was pretty good.

Unless I'm mistaken, Queen of the Reich was the first repeated song on the podcast.
Winger would be better!

I haven't had the chance to get very far yet on the podcast, maybe only 2 hours in so far. Good to see Sacred Warrior included though.

New Enbound next week. Didn't know there was one on its way. I loved the first album, and in fact was just listening to it a couple of days ago.

I have heard one track from this and it sounds like a step up from the debut IMO.

I enjoyed the VXN track. Never heard that before. YouTube d the album and thought it was pretty good. Guitar playing was excellent and not your normal note choices. Nice one

Pretty sure it was your recommendation Tim that made me pick up the first album and it's pretty good.  Nothing outstanding, but a good listen.  This new song is decent enough for me to check this new one out too.  Lars is an amazing singer.

Seems like a silly reason not to listen to a band, your loss bro, they are amazing.

Yeah, but Kade, what you have to remember was that there were no way ways to sample bands. None of my friends had their stuff and they weren't played on the radio. The only option was to actually blind buy the album. And frankly Crimson Glory looked ridiculous.

When it was released, was there many reviews in Hit Parader or other metal magazines for Crimson Glory?  I can't imagine they would have gotten many poor reviews for the music itself, and I'm sure the Queensryche comparisons were already present.

Nice Tim .   You guys in the US probably had more cool gigs to go to each year than I've had in my life , but even in saying that I don't have a huge number of tour books. Posters the same - aside from Van Halen where I could fill a museum with old posters (mostly mint).   I'm struggling to think of many tour books I have outside of Van Halen (mostly from gigs I didn't attend) and KISS.   I have a DT Images and Words Japan Tour tourbook somewhere.

These days many of the bands don't even have them , but they are fantastic records to look back on.

I only have a handful. I bought a ton of shirts though. The only thing about buying programs is that you had to babysit it through the show, and often times we were trying to get up front to take a few pictures. At least with a shirt, I could stuff it in my pants, or put it on.

Come to think of it yeah - half the time I couldn't be bothered hanging on to a book all night either.   With the limited funds I had I generally bought a shirt , although I don't bother with them either these days.   200 black t-shirts is probably sufficient  :lol

I honestly don't ever remember reading anything that screamed to me that I must check out this band. I definitely remember seeing pics of the band, but not the text that accompanied them.

Helloween's Keepers Pt.1 was a blind buy after reading an article about the band and the music. So I wasn't averse to doing it. In fact I blind bought plenty of albums.

I don't recall much about Crimson Glory in the mags either .   I can barely remember those school dayz , but I did spend plenty of time browsing/buying mags - I know that much.  I think I first came across Crimson Glory on that one famous metal radio show I often talk about..........the only one I knew of in Australia   So I was exposed to their music via radio long before I even knew about the image.

There was a midnight metal show on a Providence radio station that debuted in 1983. It was on this show that I first heard Metallica, Talas, Queensryche, and more. In fact after the original host, Doug Fry, moved on (to Philly I believe), he was replaced on the show by a guy that went by Dr. Metal. You can hear him on most boots out of Providence (including mine) introducing many bands.
Two things about Dr. Metal. He was thanked in the liner notes to I&W, and was also killed in the Station night club fire.

In the early 2000's, I bought lots of albums just based on the album cover and if it was in the metal section.  A lot of them ended up being poor purchases.

But some were major winners, a few that come to mind are Crimson Glory- Trancendence, Sword- Metalized, Fifth Angel- s/t, Armored Saint- March of the Saint, Lethal- Programmed

I've listened to the first four songs from the Hammerfall, and I just keep thinking, 'what's the point?'  It's so generic and recycled it's not funny.

The fourth song is pretty good though. Yeah, a bit disappointing. But only in that I was hoping with the significant lineup changes, it would've breathed new life into them. And Oscar. WTF is up with the blonde hair?

Just played a couple of newbies. The Extreme Pornograffitti live bluray is excellent, and I really enjoyed the Graham Bonnet band The Book album. The rerecords of his "hits" (well, some were ) are well done. Very surprised by this one.

So I'm slowly making my way through the latest podcast.

The Screamer tune was awesome, as was the Sanctuary.

Man the Tindrum (??) tune with the chick singer and the guy from TNT was such a sign of the times. Not that it was a great song, but it was textbook late 80's. And you can tell that the guitarist worshipped at the altar of Michael Schenker.

The VXN had some great vocals and guitar playing.

In the very early days of MTV, they played Vendetta quite a bit. I don't remember the song though.

After Patience, I thought Brent fell asleep at the controls and Rocket Queen was starting. That was the Howe tune, which was awesome. Can't remember if Brent said Greg or Steve.

While I was listening to Time Ain't Running Out, I definitely remembered it, but for the life of me, I couldn't place it. The thing is, when I put the Frehley's Comet albums on my iPod, I skipped the Todd tracks. Except for Loser In The Fight. Sucky song then,. Still sucks.

And speaking of sucking. Brent, I'm sorry, but that Night Ranger song blew chunks. Big ones. I mean, WINGER WAS BETTER THAN THAT!!!!!! Yes I said that. It was that bad. In the 20+hours of DTF podcasts, that might be the single worst song you've played. By far!

Did I mention how freaking awesome the Screamer tune was!! :metal
