I've almost finished my first listen of the Last in Line album. I was hoping the rest of the album would be more distinctive than the singles, but if anything the rest of the album was even more bland. I couldn't recall a single melody or chorus from the entire album if I tried, it just blurred together. It's the kind of album where it finishes and you think "was that really a whole album? I could swear I only heard 2 or 3 songs".
The performances were good, the production was good, the vocalist was good, but the songwriting is just nothing, almost an afterthought to the album. Nothing stood out as actually bad, but that's because nothing stood out at all.
I've thought albums were average on first listen, but then grown to like them on subsequent listens, but I'm just not feeling the potential for that here. There was little variety, and the melodies were all the same.
