I had Melissa, I beleive, and ended up trading it away. I could never get into Mercyful Fate. Didn't care for the image at all.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related

TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

MF was a band you either loved or hated  didn't seem to be any middle ground with them . I for one never really cared what image a band was trying to present, it was more about the music

wut?

Such an amazing, iconic metal album.  Saying that though, I'd probably take Oath over it.

MF's entire catalog IMO is really strong.  I'm a huge fan of their forgotten 90's output.  Some really tremendous metal on those.

Wolf, I'd have to take you back to 1984 with me. I had Kill 'Em All when it came out. Fistful, the first Tank album and Mercyful Fate. But at some point during that year, after having this quick exposure, I sort of lost interest in what would basically become thrash. I got heavily into UFO, Maiden, Dio. I wasn't a prude, but even as a 14 or 15 year old kid, I had something inside me that caused me to drift away from certain images, and I had no interest in anything Satanic, as MF "supposedly were". I actually traded a bunch of tapes to a friend of mine.

I wouldn't get back into thrash/speed metal until I heard Keepers Pt.1. I sampled Master Of Puppets when it came out, because I was going to see them open for Ozzy. I still wasn't in love with them. I got back into them with Garage Days Rerevisited.

I actually ignored King Diamond throughout the 80's because of his so called image. I walked out of two KD Club shows in the late 80's after going to see the opening bands. I had a friend who was very into KD. I thought the music was great but I couldn't stand HIM.

I got into KD and MF about 7 years ago, and have gone and grabbed their back catalogs.

That's fair enough.  I could see at the time how the image would be a bit off putting.  For me, I got into them about 8 or so years ago, so the image wasn't an issue for me.  Good to see you fixed that problem now though.  :tup

Yeah, I've made my peace with MF/KD. I really appreciate the music, but I'm still not a great fan of KD vocally. The music is really great though.

I reviewed Melissa and DBTO for the lists but neither even made my 70% cutoff for a proper rating.   Personally I'm not fussed about the content etc......and I can handle his voice about half the time ........I just didn't think the songs were there.  The one song I really liked out of the lot was The Oath.  Aside from that there were 4 or 5 tracks across both albums that I rated very good and the rest did little for me at all.

I find stuff like Abigail much more consistent than Mercyful Fate.

Not much of a fan, but you can't deny the song "A Dangerous Meeting".  Very cool!

That would be my fav on the album, amazing song.

I would agree with this.  I think KD in general is a lot more consistent than MF, and more accessable.

Hell yes!!!! This is a must buy for me. I was wondering if a deluxe edition was going to be released at some point. But as 2014 was coming to a close, it didn't sound like it was going to happen. I figured 30 year anniversary, it was likely to happen. Cool news!!

Yeah, the fact that there's a full concert being released is awesome. I always hate the obligatory live tracks. It's always a giant tease. I want the full show!!

Yeah I know........I felt the same until I checked the reviews around the place for Ozzy's book and was surprised to see it almost universally positive.  I'll let you know if I get my 99c worth  :lol

I read his book Diary Of A Madman back in the 80s when he was still a metal god and not a mumbling fool. Funniest book I ever read  :lol

I'll pick it up for the live show, but wasn't there a VHS of this tour?  Also, no bonus tracks at all.

That's a damn shame. Last time I saw them was a year ago and the man was great. He also got the loudest cheers of the night from people excited to see him back (he hadn't been to Texas in ages).
Argument, the presentation of reasonable views, never makes headway against conviction, and conviction takes no part in argument because it knows.

They're working on a new album. John Bush made a funny joke about Metal Blade not making any money off them, so it should be through MB again.

Cool news.

Armored Saint IMO has never released anything sub par. All of their albums are awesome; a very very underrated band.

Yeah, but they are a live band through and through. I'm not sure Chrysalis on the first two albums was ever really able to capture the essense of that.

Seems like Brent had a serious 1984 burn. I wonder how 1985 is coming along.

;D  You're right.........pushing myself to do 100 or so album scores in a week burned me out a bit and took a bit of the fun out of it.   I am doing 1985 but mixing it up with some newer releases and not putting a deadline on it.   Should be done this week though.
