Another new Whitesnake song;

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N3oLB5a-8Z4

No thanks.

Actually don't hate it, the guitar riffing is pretty cool, but David doesn't sound so great here, the verses are plodding although the chorus isn't terrible and the ending out of the instrumental part is pretty solid.

This thread has had such little activity lately, it has apparently been given Post Welfare.

This thread always suffers from roulettitis - it will return  ;D

Speaking of welfare - Coverdale's vocal cords are about to be pensioned off to wherever his teeth ended up.  If that's what he sounds like with all the studio trickery then it's about time to retire gracefully , if that's still doable.

It's the right style for the 80's Whitesnake fans (elements of bluesy rock and the 1987 vibe) but it would've felt a lot more credible 15 years ago when Cov was in better nick - in the studio at least.

It’s painful to listen to and has been for along time now. The dude is old and I certainly don’t expect him to sound great. He obviously still enjoys writing as I can’t believe the album will make any money, but maybe get someone else in to sing them.

So I just saw on Bravewords that Accept have named a new bassist. What?

What happened to Peter Baltes?

I did a Bravewords search, and sure enough, I found this:

http://bravewords.com/news/accept-bassist-peter-baltes-calls-it-quits-thank-you-for-all-the-great-years-we-shared-together

 :omg:

I totally missed this news. WTF?

Am I the last to know? I don't remember it being mentioned here.

Don't recall seeing it, or I just didn't really care to take any notice.

So Accept is purely the Wolf Hoffman show now.

So the same ticket bundle that lead me to seeing Warrant has it's next show this weekend, Tesla.  I actually don't really know their music and I missed my chance, twice, to see them before when they opened for Def Leppard one year and the next they opened for Def Leppard and Poison, but I got there late both times.  I'm kind of on edge about actually going.  I currently have it listed on stubhub at face value but it looks like tickets are starting to drop below which means I may go, but I don't know their music that well.

Thoughts and opinions on Tesla?

Not seen them live since back in the day so can’t comment on how they are live now, but back then they were excellent. First three albums are top drawer stuff.

If it was me, I’d go.

Ditto.  I've heard that Jeff Keith's voice is not all that great in a live setting.  I pickedup Forever More (2008 release I think?), and that's pretty decent.  Paul's right, the first three are all A+ material.  Song-for-song, I'd put The Great Radio Controversy up against any album from the 80s.  I'd heard that there recent work was rubbish, so I can't comment on that.

I really liked the 4th one also. And their comeback records were at least solid. The last two are boring, but I would expect them to play mainly older tunes. And I heard too that JK's voice isn't what it used to be, but if the price is reasonable I would surely go.

Bust A Nut was half a great album but too much stodge.

The last few albums didn’t do much for me, though I recently played the new one and it was better than I expected. It’s more Def Leppard than Tesla though. I’m not going to recommend it though.

Had a listen to the last one on spotify. It wasn't as worse as I feared but still not really good. And more ballads and mellow tunes than real rockers.

Thanks for the responses, looks like I am going. I already had a cheap ticket but stubhub prices are way below my cheap price now so I wouldn't even get my money back, might as well check it out especially with the positive responses here, from people who I know have tastes similar to my own.

Here's the setlist they played last night so I expect the same or similar:

Brent will appreciate this.  Saw an Anthem album at JB on the weekend so picked it up.  Discovered afterwards it's a new best of re-recorded called Nucleus.  Has a bonus cd too.  Halfway through and some pretty decent metal.  A bit samey, but quite enjoyable.  Some excellent guitar work.  From the first half, Immortal Bind and Venom Strike are highlights.

I've spun a couple of Anthem albums recently.  Totally digging it, and meaning to check in a little deeper into them.

Always glad to hear some follow up on some of the rarities mentioned in podcasts (or roulettes)

I have pretty much the whole Anthem discog - it's not consistently brilliant by any means but there a few strong albums and each has at least one or two really good songs.  Some nice guitar work always helps.   They're the sort of band that (if I got around to it) I wouldn't mind making my own Best Of album for.

It's not all that well known but in 2001 they recorded an album of re-records with Graham Bonnet (Heavy Metal Anthem) to try and crack the US - like Loudness' On The Prowl- which is worth having if you like Bonnet's voice.

Can't find it on Youtube but if anyone's super interested then gimme a yell.

That Tesla show I caught over the weekend was pretty good.  Nice to see what felt like a good ole fashioned rock n roll show.  GA venue, band just rockin on stage playing good music, an older crowd as expected, but people were certainly into it and it was a decent sized crowd for the venue.  Probably 20x more people than at the Warrant show a few weeks back.  I thought the singer sounded great too.

Here's a little old Tesla:

Tesla - Call it What You Want Live @ Starland Ballroom NJ 4/20

and a little new:

Tesla - Shock Live @ Starland Ballroom NJ 4/20

also I wish I counted how many times the one guitarist did a spin move  :lol I loved his playing though, he was so into performing and I love when I can see that.

I think this new one is something similar of the band trying to break new ground perhaps?  nuclear Blast and re-recorded in English?  I'll have to check the originals.

Bonnet does pretty much whatever you pay him to do it seems haha.

On another note, the lack of good metal lately is somewhat concerning.

Well well, Timo is back.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=45jaAbaFn2A

He hasn't changed his writing style, but this does sound a bit better than the shit he has been doing.  He's still got that dirty strat guitar tone which I haven't liked.  His old tone was so much better.  I don't know who this singer is but interested to hear who else is on this.
