this is a lot less folk and a lot more metal than the mantle, but the metal here is better than the mantle, the metal of the mantle tended to be the weaker moments really
it feels less flavorful in comparison though but this is like my second time listening so we shall see, though this probably won't be in my rotation for a while yet since i have so much stuff omg

Loving this. Sounds a bit like Deftones at times
people on this board are actual music fans who developed taste in music and not casual listeners who are following current fashion trends and listening to only current commercial hits.

yeah... don't really care for this one, it's not awful but the songs all feel stretched out and underwritten.

Abour Rosetta's The Galilean Satellites: first CD is just what I expected, great atmospheric post-metal. But I wasn't in mood for the second CD (ambient noise). I read it is intended to play both CDs at the same time but I haven't tried :D

the galilean satellites is great (both discs) but yeah the second disc isn't something i'm always in the mood for
and i just used audacity to combine the two discs into one and yeah it does improve the overall experience a little though tbh i wouldn't call it a huge difference since the ambient disc gets drowned out a lot of the time  :lol

Untrue is one of my all-time favorite albums, and I've checked most of his EPs, but for some reason never felt compelled to jam his debut - probably because I had listened to some of it years ago and didn't like it. Damn, I was wrong, this is excellent. Not in the lever of the follow-up, but very enjoyable.

I love Jeff (as an artist and a person) but he seems to have his knickers in a twist with all these backhanded remarks he's throwing around ("I'm glad that the melrock crowd hate it " etc..)   I think he is barking up the wrong tree as most of my favourite material of his (Malmsteen,Talisman) is heavier than this plodding stuff in many ways.  He seems to assume that everyone who likes melodic rock wants another W.E.T album , whereas I certainly do not.

Personally I think his voice suits the modern style quite well - I just don't happen to like the style with the plodding downtuned guitars/modern rock.  I was exhausted by the end of it.   I am also sick of the "you liar, you done me wrong, I am gonna kick your ass" style lyrics that he seems to love writing these days.  He's trying too hard to be a mean dude.

Having said all that I don't think it's awful or as bad as some are making out - tracks like Freakshow,Unblame,Awakened   etc.. do have some good qualities.  I just really have no real desire to hear them regularly.

Rating: 70%

PS the best track for me is the Apple bonus track Cracking The Stone.  The other bonus is better than just about everything on the regular disc too :lol  Add those two tracks and I would rate it a few pts higher.

What a dick.

I figured that would be your general opinion Brent based on the first one.  I really liked the first one so I'll probably get it.  But he doesn't need to act like a big tough guy douche bag about it.  I for one, don't really want another WET album as the second one was absolute shit.  :lol
