Listening to Kyuss' Welcome to Sky Valley for the first time.

"Hey guys, what if we play really heavy riffs for seventy minutes?"
"Okay, that sounds fun, let's do it".

And a classic (probably) was born.
That's a great album  :metal

Yes.

One album is not enough for me, so I play six at the same time.

Avantasia - The Mystery of Time

TIME TO RUN

SAVIOR IN THE CLOCKWORK

TELL ME

FOR HOW LONG

WILL I WAIT ON THE GRIND

Thanks Evermind :tup

I guess that means you liked it. :metal

Yeah, I would say so. The two epics are especially strong, though the shorter songs are pretty much all good too. I might actually The Great Mystery better than Savior in the Clockwork (hard to tell since I've listened to the one twice and the other like five times).

i mean, i don't recall any really heavy riffs, and the riffs are what tend to make an album heavy most of the time  :lol

This is... quite boring, honestly. Very ambient-ish, but with some buildups - doesn't sound too different from generic post-rock.

F#A#Infinity is still their best album by a mile.

Yanqui is good, but it's definitely more sparse and minimal than any of Godspeed's other works and I think that's what turns off some people from it. It's more subtle, just not in a way that I would necessarily gravitate towards.

It doesn't have those haunting and looming ambient drones or crescendos the way a record like LYSF does. It's much more the "background noise" album for Godspeed. It's still worth a listen though, and if this is their "worst" release, then they've had a pretty good track record.

Rockets Fall on Rocket Falls is maybe my favourite Godspeed song at this point. But I can’t even remember the last time I listened to the album version. I have a live version that’s twice as good which is my default version now.

Rest of the album, I just remember being pretty good, but not amazing.

personally i think their most recent is their worst, honestly, but it's still pretty decent

and I'd dig F#A# more if not for Providence, which has never done much for me. first two tracks are awesome though

No you don't - chalk it up  :)    Aside from my #1 album on my DTF Top 50 (which is 1978) I tend to find most 70's music is missing something for me - whether it's the production or (in many cases) relatively average guitar work.   But there are odd albums that give me the right vibe and Burn is one of them.  And of course plenty of KISS....even Dire Straits, Chicago , Doobie Brothers.  I also tend to take more of an interest in the prior bands of my favourite 80's artists too ,  so Whitesnake--> Purple  etc....

I seem to like Asunder more than most. The first track might not be up to par with some of Godspeed's better material, but the two drone tracks are honestly much more engaging and hypnotic than the ones on Allelujah! Piss Crowns Are Trebled is stellar all around too. What a satisfying end. :hefdaddy
