I haven't listened to a lot of Gentle Giant yet (so much music to explore...) This is fun :azn:

Outstanding album from Crimson Glory up there!

Yeah my first time listening to them. I can see why people love them. Its a shame they never put out an album with Todd as im sure it would have been Killer

The self-titled was a promising debut, but  boy, did they upgrade their game with
.

Unfortunatley the follow-up Strange and Beautiful  was a complete desaster.
Van Halen III was fan-service compared to it.

Years later came the last CG album. The rather unknown Astronomica. It had some really good songs, held back by drum-computing and demo level sound.

Yes, it's a real shame no new album with Todd was meant to be. A new old school CG album with real drums and a good production would be a sweet thing.

I liked Strange and Beautiful. Not a CG album, really, that was the problem. It was a lot better than the album that followed.
Transcendence is a classic though.

the folk elements here add flavor for sure but beyond that i don't get much from this, it's solid enough though but i doubt i'll return to it

figured i might as well give this a listen and i got basically exactly what i expected
it's all "fine" but none of it really has much personality, the ambient doesn't go anywhere and the black metal isn't anything special, though the album definitely has a better flow to it than their previous

Wow. I never met a person liking that album. Good for you.
I have a heart for leftfield albums, too. I even like VH III, Waiting For The Punchline (Extreme), that Mötley Crüe album with Corabi from 1994 and even Nostradamus (with the story bits cut off), but no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get into the Strange And Beautiful.

I like it, too, but it was a big time departure from the usual bombastic Extreme sound.
Stripped down to reflect the change of the musical climate. It was considered a flop and ultimately led to the band splitting up before they did another one "Saudades de Rock" 13 years later.

Amorphis is some really good melodic death metal with some pop sensibilities and great melodies, and Native Construct is just totally bonkers. Both come highly recommended.

Have you listened to all Myrath albums already?

I'll definitely try to get around to giving both a go soon, love me some melodic death metal.

I only have Desert Call by Myrath, got it about 3 weeks ago and am really enjoying it. Have you heard the new album? I think it's out now right?

Yes actually! Quite a bit. I distinguished different singers and stuff.

And :lol at this bolded part. Take this, Tyrias, 425 and Mr. Red!

I can distinguish the different singers on The Scarecrow the song!

I listened to The Mystery of Time for the first time yesterday. I liked it pretty well (though more listens are necessary), and I can sort of distinguish the singers usually! :lol

i actually listened to this yesterday but forgot to post here
i think i like this more than their debut overall, the songs are better written, even if there's less psych here than the debut. it's also heavier, first track, end of third track, fifth track especially
mostly i'm glad it's definitely a different album from their debut, i'm pretty interested in getting the band's other two albums now (will be getting their new release in my next music order, for one)

I like to think they hid their name in the logo so badly because Oranssi Pazuzu is a silly sounding name.

people on this board are actual music fans who developed taste in music and not casual listeners who are following current fashion trends and listening to only current commercial hits.

Endtroducing.... by DJ Shadow. It's essential late-night music.

One of the reasons I don't like the genre - can't take that shit serious.

Now listening to:

Gorgeous - I'm loving this  :heart
