It's really a mixed bag. It has some of my favourite Devin songs ever (Coast, Gato, Heaven Send, Terminal, Ki, Lady Helen) but some of the songs are incredibly bad, namely Disruptr, Ain't Never Gonna and especially Trainfire (what is this, Elvis?). Still, the good outweights the bad for me.  :tup

Weekend arrived early this week, this is one of the weirdest blends of albums I've listened to on one day

people on this board are actual music fans who developed taste in music and not casual listeners who are following current fashion trends and listening to only current commercial hits.

Really good album. I've got the bedside radio single somewhere. Not delved into any of their other work but this is an enjoyable album.

That Badlands debut is awesome.

From Voodoo Highway, the song "last time" is fantastic.

I have Vheissu, but other than Red Sky, it hasn't nearly had the impact that The Alchemy Index has had on me. I'll have to listen to it more, but whenever I feel in a Thrice mood, I just put on TAI... it's just too good. :P

Beggars is definitely next on the list.

Apparently from 1981. Looks like a great lineup too. I need to check that stuff out.
Only King could mis-spell a LETTER.
Yep. I think the only party in the MP/DT situation that hasn't moved on is DTF.

Now that half of the year passed after the release, I can safely say it wasn't just some kind of release-day (week/month) hype for me. Definitely my favourite album from previous year and it has a solid chance of appearing in my Top 50 now. I'm so glad Gilmour still got it when it comes to songwriting. Just a fantastic album. Can't get enough of it.

My albums for today:

This first band is Soen very cool swingy jazz fusion kinda stuff.

Its alright, its not the most consistant album IMO. Grahams performance carries it well enough even when the songs arent all that great. I don't really see myself listening to the full album again but there are a few songs I can see myself returning to.

I had a quick flick on Youtube, and I think it's probably a little poppy for me anyway. I was hoping for something more straight up rockin'.

Had a jazz band competition yesterday, which included a 4 hour round trip and a lot of off time between combo and band performances, so I had a lot of time to listen to music.

This is an album one of my friends recommended me. We each give each other one album every week by a new band to listen to, and this is what he gave me. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Definitely gonna be listening to more of them.

I discovered this band while I was listening to discover weekly and waiting for awards to start. I think the song was Venator. I ended up listening through this on the way back looking at the moon through the back of a bus, and it kicked my ass. This is filled was beautiful melodies and some very creative instrumentation.

Honestly this may be my favorite VoM album. I know lots of people are whining about the more melodic vocals, and calling "Veil of Periphery", but that's something I'll always take more of.

And finally, I felt bad listening to mostly metal at the jazz band competition so I gave this a listen.
