and I'll be checking this out for the first time:

Good for you, amazing album. Have you heard other Act albums before?

Haven't heard anything from the band before, but was told this is a good place to start, you disagree?

Train of Naught

No, I honestly don't think you can go wrong with any of the 4 act albums as a first, chronologically would seem the most logical but I personally think the first is the weakest (but still good), my list goes: 2>4>3>1, 4 is slowly but surely becoming my favorite though.

Crow

oh gosh, this is some great instrumental riff-based sludge, thank you

Lowdz

Nice one Kade.

David Lee Roth - eat em and smile, skyscraper, a little ain't enough

WASP - Babylon, golgotha

Crow

there are a few tracks here i quite like and the album as a whole is pretty nice, but i'm not sure how much relisten value i'd get out of this.
might pick it up at some point anyways, though

Crow

i remember liking this one on first listen but this time i'm finding it kinda meh... mostly feels like too many blastbeat moments as well as the vocals seem to be weirdly produced in a way that's bothering me.

Crow

didn't care as much for this one, actually, not really what I'm looking for right now. it's alright but eehh.

Sacul

Why haven't I given it more listens? Despite Vincent's voice being a little inconsistent, it's an absolutely wonderful release :heart

Crow

this one too, i didn't really enjoy this nearly as much as the other album i listened to from these guys

Crow

this is the kind of "lol so wacky" prog metal that i just can't really get into. it's like my least favorite aspects of deconstruction and dark matters turned up to 11.

Yeah, such a great album.  I really wish they would do another album.  Seems like they have just fizzled out for good.

Good albums there too mate.

Major singles aside, I've never really liked Eat 'Em and Smile or Skyscraper. Just not a Vai fan. I love A Little Ain't Enough though. Your Filthy Little Mouth had a few great tracks (especially the first two), but it was all over the place trying to remain relevant. DLR Band is a hidden gem of '90s rock. :tup

jjrock88

ACDC- Powerage

Black Sabbath- Tyr, Headless Cross

Crow

i mean, this is fine enough and all but the post-rock i prefer is the more atmospheric stuff
this is alright though but i'm not gonna follow up on it, nah

One of the best live releases I've ever heard.

Train of Naught

This album is weird.....

....but I like it.

Sir Walrus Cauliflower

That's a great album. I love closure in moscow

Train of Naught

Definitely. I was eager to check out more so I checked another of their albums (First Temple), not as good, but still nice.

Both albums remind me of The Mars Volta, with a few Dear Hunter-esque touches aswell.

Dali's Dilemma - Manifesto for Futurism

Not a very new album, but definitely worth listening to it. Obviously strongly influenced by DT (Awake), but keeping its own character. I don't understand why this is the only album of this band, because in my oppinion they are great musicians...

DREAMINGLIGHT IS SO BEAUTIFUL PLS LEE NOTICEME MAKE ME YOURHUSBAND

Catching up on some 2015 stuff. I'm on my third spin of this, and I like it a lot. It's probably not a 10/10 record, but it's very good and consistent, something that makes it likely to have some staying power for me in the long run. Agenda is funny and is exactly the sort of dorky thing that I expect and enjoy from Neal. He's one of a very few musicians who can do some silly stuff at times where the silliness doesn't detract from my enjoyment of the music.

Polarbear

Rush - Roll The Bones
Ume - Sunshower
Therapy? - Infernal Love
Graveyard - Hisingen Blues
Soilwork - Panic Broadcast
