I can only listen to the instrumental version of The Ocean but it is a great album.
i haven't even touched the instrumental disc yet, i really wish they hadn't even included one 'cause i'm totally fine with the vocals  :lol

Lol can't say I'm familiar with Big Daisy either

500 albums pressed so can't say I'm surprised :)  Pretty decent stuff though from around 1980.

Never even heard a sniff of this one

Thanks  ;D Definitely listen to their EP too if you're liking them a lot.

I really did enjoy them. Sort of like a prog-fusion type deal.

Pretty great album, sucks that it was to go against The Bends, OK Computer, Kid A and In Rainbows.

Unto the Locust will never get old.. I never listen to the opening and closing songs separately, but I wouldn't have any other opener than I Am Hell (Sonata in C#), what an opener.

Listening to this right after, hype!

Brent, what the heck is this?

The band is called Sure Conviction. Christian rock from the mid 90's - not quite heavy enough to be called metal .  The preachy stuff can get a bit much but the song writing on this one is a cut above ,so I can deal with the slightly over the top lyrics on some songs.

I was trying to think who they remind me of..............maybe think a heavier version of Canadian AOR band Boulevard.  I might squeeze one of the heavier songs onto the podcast at some point.

interesting.  I'll have to tray and track this down.

Still looking for a reasonable price on that The Brave / Battle Cries album you played.

brand new on CD will be tough , but it can be had on Amazon (used) and iTunes  for <$10.

'Nother 3 roulette albums, 2 great ones and 1 not so great

Anathema - We're Here Because We're Here: This album just gives me goosebumps, such a calm atmosphere. Thin Air aside, which I already loved, a great moment in this album that I remember liking especially was the chorus of A Simple Mistake.

dredg - El Cielo: Soaring soundscape, explosive instrumental climaxes, man I'm liking this album. "El Cielo" is exactly how I would describe this atmosphere, pure heaven. Also the overall sound of it is so beautiful, almost the same way the Anathema album I just listened to did, but in a different way.

Bruce Dickinson - Accident of Birth: This makes more sense now, the style of this solo album isn't anything like Arc of Space, which I didn't expect anyway. Overall I thought it was a pretty generic rock/hardrock album, not something I'd relisten very quickly. Arc of Space is still perfect though, and I'll probably listen to it every day with no regrets.

I love that Anathema album and actually have the Bruce Dickinson CD in rotation in my car right now.  Unfortunately I couldn't get into Anathema's latest though (although I will give it another chance in a month or so)

I respectfully disagree about Accident of Birth.  I wish Maiden would make songs more in that vein instead of what they did with Book of Souls.  Just my preference.  Arc of Space is amazing ...I agree about that.

I am spinning the new Megadeth album over and over at the moment

I didn't like what I've heard from Book of Souls so far, but didn't give it a fair chance yet to be honest. But yeah, from that 1 listen through Accident of Birth I wasn't impressed, but there's still tons of stuff I would prefer it over, Bruce Dickinson certainly is something.

oh, i listened to stuff today i guess

ulver - atcp whatever
i didn't really have any expectations going into this since ulver seems to always do whatever the hell they want. i enjoyed this but i wouldn't say it was fantastic or memorable, probably a bit too long. it's apparently just polished-up live jams, and it sounds quite good by that standard

julia hotler - have you in my wilderness
some pretty nice low-key pop, i'll probably listen to this again before i form a solid opinion on this, but i enjoyed this, though it didn't really stick with me either

dekadent- veritas
or is it the other way around i forget. uhh. this was pretty solid black metal. i'm more into the atmospheric stuff but i did enjoy this a fair bit, though i don't know if i'd return to it

too lazy for images today  :lol

oh yeah i also listened to the instrumental version of Pelagial instead of the wordy version
it holds up surprisingly well as an instrumental album, but i will probably never listen to that version again regardless. still feels empty in some places. it's just, when has taking a key element out of an album ever improved it? probably numerous times, actually. but not here. what was that one band where everyone said the instrumentals were super great but once the vocals came in they had to turn it off. that was a case of taking a key element out of an album and improving it, yes
