i may retroactively boost Roots of the Mountain's score by like .5 or so because damn what a song
but the rest of the album is pretty cool too, where Negura Bunget is more black metal with some prog this is prog metal with some black metal and I dig it a lot

Some stuff I can't stand at all (Fields of Grey for example), but I did find plenty to like in tracks like Animatronica and The Surgeon. Even though the IM sound is very established and familiar at this point in time, those tracks really have the IM magic again. I'd say this release is their best since Vicious Delicious.
Not 'Down To F***', but 'Dream Theater Forums' .

listening to this one right after Destrage was a mistake but random.org is a cruel mistress
the combined insanity of the two albums has left me actually quite exhausted
but this is still super cool

Heh, I like it all, and dunno why would someone dislike that track though :P

Yeah, definitely their best since Vicious Delicious  :tup

this is considered one of or the best Muse album and i can kinda get why, though i'll need more listens of it
though "screenager" is like the lamest "omg so edgy" commentary song i've ever seen lol but musically it's fine so i don't mind it too much

Painters of the Tempest is just fantastic but the other two are pretty great as well. I feel I'll like this more than Portal of I, really, which I like a lot but want to like even more than I do.

when i think of "sludge metal" this is exactly the kind of sound that comes to mind and that's great
it helps that karyn crisis is a fantastic metal vocalist
yeah, i dig this
also i think this is the oldest album i got this year so it gets that perk

it's just the one thing of taking rather technical music and making it emote
that's all you need to do to make it work
i don't want to hear bands that sound like robots playing pointlessly technical music

this is very pretty and thus rather engaging and enjoyable

It's only been a little over 2 weeks after release but I've listened to this thing so much, definitely one of the standout modern instrumental prog 'bands'.

this one's heavier than The Apologist but there's a lot of the same sound, will of course need to listen to this about a thousand times to really get it
also the digipak for this album is beautiful

Dude, this album is so boring. Nothing in itself is bad here (the trumpets are nice), but I just don't connect with the music in any way. Ok record at best.

i never got around to listening to American Football but I got the feeling it wouldn't be much more productive than listening to Don Caballero, another band who just completely fails to interest me with their music

again, CHON does it better by simply adding emotion to their music

Well I guess it's worth giving it a try, at least to the opener Never Meant. The rest of the album goes in the same vein, so if you don't like it, well, it's not your thing I guess  :P

i didn't put this one on at all for a while and i was really wanting to listen to it so i took a break from new stuff to get back to this
man, this album is still really good. i'm not quite sure if it's really great, but the atmosphere and folk elements are fantastic and there's a lot of cool riffs or moments scattered throughout the tracks as well

Redemption - This Mortal Coil

I LOVE this album!
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

i really dig this album cover, for one
this one seems to be leaning more towards guitar leads and less heavy stuff but it's far from absent
anyways it's east of the wall and i dig it

this seems to get flak for being basically just more Ecailles
to which I say:
hell yeah more Ecailles inject that directly into my eardrums for crying out loud

honestly this is the direction i wish all djent would take, a lot more atmospheric and a bit softer but not without some kind of edge to it
TesseracT tries to go this way and I dig Altered State still but I don't think they pull it off as well, or at the very least they don't emote as much as this does and the atmosphere isn't as thick as it is here (Intuition, Thrive, and The Parable especially are all just beautiful tracks ahh ;; )
