Just listened to the YouTube single. I have never been a fan of the Chastain stuff as I can't stand Leathers voice. The song is ok but the vocals and melody line is average.

Another great post Art. My big issue with VS was the low budget sound which didn't live up to the grandeur of the music. The House of Atreus albums were great though.

it's actually really fucking great. Good enough that I purchased it. There's one clunker at the end called Fallen Angel which I would have swapped with the Japan bonus track, but other than that, solid from start to finish. I don't know early of their early stuff, but loved the last one too (which I still need to properly purchase) and this one again is a winner. Recommended.

Not all that familiar.
I had this album back in the day:

A classic old album that was a favorite of mine back in the day is Stratus' Throwing Shapes:

You can see it has the Troys, but also Bernie Shaw on vocals and Clive Burr on drums.

But I never really followed Praying Mantis proper. The sample I heard from the new album is solid and I will likely grab this.

Checking out a couple tracks and I'm thinking the guy reminds me a lot of Dio. Reading a comment on Amazon, and apparently he's from a Dio tribute band.

onto roulette cleanup now. was in the mood for something proggy, so here we are.

i like this a bit better than the first time i listened to it but i'm still not wowed by it. definitely will get the Schizoid Lloyd album before this one, at the very least.

oh man. this is gorgeous stuff. hits the same notes sigur ros does for me, but it's even dreamier-sounding. a very happy album.
