Damn, I let this band's reputation stop me from properly discovering them for much too long. This first album is some great '90s alternative rock. The angst, the urgency, kick-ass guitaring...

I'm inclined to say this is better than Pulse.

Hmmm, I don't know.  :lol

Yeah, Seventh Star is amazing.  I have a new found appreciation for it.  I always rated it lower then most of the Martin albums, but over the last couple of years I've really enjoyed listening to it from time to time and think it's almost just as good, great rock album.

:metal :metal :millahhhh

I'm getting there as well. Granted, I REALLY FUCKING LOVE Pulse, SO MUCH; but Modern Noise, for as short-lived as the album still feels, feels a lot more concentrated, concise and 'to-the-point'. It's a fantastic album and I'm loving it more with each listen, and I've already listened to it a shitload. It's one of those really rare albums (for me, anyway, as I rarely listen to albums in one go, as a whole) that I'll start at track 1...and when it's done I still want more after loving every minute. But then there's parts of Pulse that I like almost more than the entirety of Modern Noise (Mr. Bird; Catch And Release; Hamilton Anxiety Scale and Reject Falicon). They're both awesome though and I fuckin' love Tommy's work as a solo artist.

Completely different sound than any other Sabbath album, but still excellent

No kidding!

I always meant to get more into PC69; especially the Deris era.

Nice to see you getting into Fifth Angel & Stryper. Those two FA albums are unknown gems.

WASP debut rules.

Awesome album from CIIC.

I am 100 percent finished with Adreneline Mob

Q5 - When The Mirror Cracks.   Floyd Rose's (of the whammy bar/tremolo system fame) band.  Much softer overall than their previous album Steel The Light which I imagine you'd probably like.

Here's the title track off this one , which rocks a bit but half of this album is more AOR.  Sounds a bit Gary Moore-ish this one.

yeah, been into the Fifth Angel for a while now since it was discussed in the aor thread quite a while ago.

Really enjoy Stryper on a whole, although it's something I can't listen to constantly due to the lyrics.  I need a bit of a break at times.

I forgot how good and powerful that WASP debut is, killer album.

The first PC69 album is a really gem and worth a listen.

And yes, as discussed that CIIC is fabulous.

Some great stuff up above.

Black Sabbath - TYR

Badlands - St and Voodoo Highway

Europe - ST, Wings Of Tomorrow and TFC

Tesla - Simplicity

And I loved the 1st Q5 album but was pretty disappointed with WTMC at the time. Don't mind it now but it's like 2 different bands.

A few were surprised at how high I rated that in my 1984 list , but IMO it's an all time classic and one of the best debuts ever .  You could be forgiven for expecting all show and no go based on their image but the songwriting is top notch.  One of my first and most loved metal albums and only missed by a smidge in my top 50 - one album per artist and I just slightly favoured The Headless Children.

Had to google that Malmsteen.  That's not a legit release is it?  Killer collection of bonus tracks though.  I'm pretty sure I know most of them.

Obscure but legit.  Released on Malmsteen's own label Rising Force Records.
