Listening to this post-black-metal-experiemental-whatever and it's drone-ambient-experimental-what-the-hell remix. I don't know which I like most. Really bleak and dark stuff.

Now that's a weird description. It got me interested so I checked out some of the stuff on youtube and it sounds very familiar yet original and fresh. I should listen to the entire album...

Believe it or not this is my first proper listen to a 70's Priest album in full.  Although my No 1 album of all time was from the 70's I don't have a good strike rate with 70's material in general.  But I've always meant to check it out and so here we go.........I've guessed that Stained Class is the most likely to appeal.

As per usual I prefer to spend my time working back in time for missed classics rather than new releases for the most part.

Will do and yeah - the Halford is really  :metal  , especially the first 3 or 4 tracks.   Funnily enough while I was at the "HAL" part of my collection I stumbled onto a soundboard recording of Hall and Oates live in 1984 , so in your honour I'm going to give that a listen too  ;D

The problem with pre SFV Priest is the production. They just lacked power in the studio back then and the albums suffer a bit for it. Ironic that the "live in the studio" Unleashed In The East rocks.

While I generally agree with that, I do think that on "Beyond the Realms of Death" (aka the best Priest song ever) the production is absolutely perfect.

Yep -  I certainly didn't dislike Stained Class but can't see it being on regular play , aside from maybe a couple of songs.  It reinforced why I started with SFV.  It also reinforced in my mind just how huge the debut Van Halen was in the same year - they sound 15 years apart.

I was really disappointed with that Death Dealer.  The production was horrible which didn't help.  Disconnected is incredible, as is the Evergrey and Frost.  That At Vance is one of the only ones I haven't got.

A few of those are first listens for me , incl the Death Dealer.  I'll let you know if the At Vance is worthwhile.

And it´s not that bad at all.
From the ocean comes the notion that the realise lies in rhythm. The rhythm of vision is dancer, and when you dance you´re always on the one. From the looking comes to see, wondrous realise real eyes....

Great! Talking about familiarity, the second song heavily reminds me of Porcupine Tree, but at the end it takes some heavy riff that turns the whole thing into something different.

Back to topic: This is quite good, but I wished the samples sounded a bit better.

What the hell, how is that this album is so varied (eclectic), weird and, overall, damn funny :lol ?
