this is my first foray into synthpop/synthwave. I will say every song seems like it could have been on an 80's movie soundtrack. So . . . awesome?

I've actually been looking for music sort of similar to this, but as I'm reading more about the genres (I am VERY unfamiliar with electronic music as a whole) it seems like this is more synthpop and what I am seeking is more synthwave.

Can't help you there, I don't think anything I listen to is Synthwave. The Last.fm page for the Synthwave tag is probably your best bet if you haven't checked there. The majority of my musical discoveries are from Last.fm's tag pages or the similar artists.
