I've already tried with Tim. It seems there's no getting him on the Savatage train.

It will be a high quality round if everyone is sending Savatage.  Pick anything and it's a win.  :tup

I missed this discussion on Savatage.

This is from a review of Fight For The Rock

Their earlier albums were raw and menacing: the sound on Fight for the Rock is more like something  :TAC: would be right at home with

It's just a question of which song ;D

But what is that American Thrash album?

It's "trash" jj..............and it may well be :lol     It's a new release with the duo behind the rock band Crown Of Thorns whose debut is a bit of a melodic rock classic and has a co-write with Paul Stanley.  Jean (the guy with the mohawk) also co-wrote a few KISS songs , was in The Plasmatics  and had a Billboard charting solo album.

Borealis?  Not knowing the band, should I check it out.

And yes, great WASP albums, especially those two later ones.

I thought you preferred the earlier WASP Kade.............and we were chatting about the Borealis album (and the older one Fall From Grace) recently at your instigation  ;)

Sorry to take this off topic, but I had to share.  This popped up in my subscriptions and I have no idea who this band are, but this is killer, listen.

I'm a WASP man from start to finish to be honest, I think my top 10 shows that.  Thinking back now, when I discovered them, I listened to them as much as DT, Maiden, Priest and Savatage.  I'm gonna go through and listen to all their albums from start to finish as I haven't endulged in them in a while.

Yeah, I remember the Borealis one.  I know you pimped the older ones and I've listened to one of them, I think it was Fall From Grace which was good, but the new one sounds better.  Must have missed you thoughts on it.  Weird.  ???

I haven't listened to it yet..........just thought you'd be keen based on what you already said.  Will comment tomorrow in the HR/metal thread.

As far as WASP go , Headless Children made my all time Top 10 so it'll be interesting to see if I stick by that rating these days after a fresh listen - the debut was seriously close and is an all time classic for me too.   Just the first minute of that album does more for me than most metal bands.  If the later albums that I have ignored impress me as much as they do you ,then I'm in for a good week of music.

Yeah yeah, I know I dug that song, so looking forward to seeing what you think.

Yeah, I'm gonna spin the debut tomorrow.  I do assume you are talking about the version with Animal as track 1?  Such a beast song. (pun sort of intended)

Don't judge

I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

I liked it. Its A BIT MORE 70S IN STYLE TO ME, BUT SOME GOOD SONGS AND jb SOUNDS GOOD FOR NOT OVERSTRETCHING ON THE VOCALS. (BLOODY CAPS LOCK)
What did you think of the trixter? I really liked that one.

The Flower Kings: Stardust We Are

Quite a long album, so this doesn't get the full playthrough as often as some of the other albums I have. Still, it's a great journey to go on when I feel like it.

Amon Tobin - Supermodified

Oh boy. This is... amazing. Kind of a dark IDM with nu jazz and instrumental hip-hop. Damn, better than expected - specially those huge drums :heart
