Hella good!
That's a word salad - and take it from me, I know word salad
I fear for the day when something happens on the right that is SO nuts that even Stadler says "That's crazy".

Brent, I remember that Stormwitch being pretty good.  I had checked them out because of a Hammerfall cover.  Whats the rating for that one?

I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

It's pretty good jj - it's not as  :metal as their earlier albums and in the end is a pretty unusual mix of classic metal and almost pompy melodic rock (eg the title track).   I dragged it out as part of my 1987 listening.

There's a few albums like that actually - Shy's Excess All Areas is definitely part hard rock but there's also plenty of AOR style about it.

That Shy album is excellent. Don Dokken produced some of it I remember. Devil Woman is a great cover too. The S/T from a couple of years ago was great but their other albums weren't up to par.

Excess All Areas is a ripper and , unfortunately for those that don't have that version , the 3 bonus tracks are stronger than many of the album tracks.  The s/t made my top 50 , so 'nuff said.

I would agree that they were up and (mostly) down early on but I rate some of their other later albums quite high , especially Unfinished Business.

Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

Brent who is that Tyton Mind Over Metal?

I'm trawling the depths of 1987 now mate  :lol  - they were an unsigned (note the awesome cover art) band out of Houston USA.  There's a bit of a Christian edge to some of the lyrics but nothing too preachy.  They're old style classic metal a la early Sword, Vicious RUmors etc..... and for an indie production it's pretty good.

I'll be listening to City of Heroes some time over the weekend, but I'm not expecting much based on the songs we've heard so far.

Never heard of the other one.
