In the middle of a decent biography on Elton John, by Philip Norman. Well-written, exhaustively researched, and while not "authorized", close enough for guv'mint work. The only downside is Norman himself; famous for his intense dislike of Paul McCartney (despite having authored what many call the definitive biography on The Beatles, "Shout!"), he makes no bones about his feelings for the subject. He seems to admire Elton, but not without pause, and some of the "shots" taken seem petty (for example, he has a penchant for noting Elton's height - or lack thereof - and there are incessant references to Elton's "pudgy fingers".)
