Have you read the "Live Ship Trader" group?

Gods yes. Anyway, I am really not impressed with this book so far. she takes way too long to get to the point. I'm almost 200 pages in and getting slightly bored, like get to the plot already. You'd think she got paid by the page

The slow, placid, domestic moments are necessary for the larger story. Stick with it. You'll thank me later!

I finished Rumble Tumble (Hap & Leonard #5) by Joe Lansdale.  Lansdale has a way of making things both horrifying and hilarious at the same time which just makes his books a lot of fun.

Currently reading Storm Front by Jim Butcher. I had never heard of this series until I saw it mentioned in this thread and it looked like it could be right up my alley. Well I started the book yesterday and I'm almost done with it so I guess it is.

Not generally an avid reader of short stories, but totally hooked on No Middle Name: The Complete Collected Jack Reacher Short Stories by Lee Child.

Really enjoying The Three Body Problem. Hardish Sci-Fi book about the undermining of physical reality as a prelude to an alien invasion.

It's a solid collection, indeed. I think there's only one story i thought was fairly stupid, and the rest were good fun.

So, I really only read the first Jungle Book, because the last few stories bored me, but I might go back to read the second book one day. Anyway, going to give Against the Day by Thomas Pynchon another try

Lethal White by Robert Galbraith

Excellent book. Probably tied for my favourite in the series with The Silkworm. The plot was satisfying but complicated as heck, in a good way. I found it very well thought out and executed. I think I will reread it next year just to catch any of the details I missed. I've read some negative non-spoilery reviews before digging into it, well, I don't know, I liked this a lot.

Back to Mark Lawrence with King of Thorns which I finally bought with the third book too, I guess I'm committed now.
This first band is Soen very cool swingy jazz fusion kinda stuff.

Alright, I guess Pynchon is just not for me, no matter how hard I try, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to enjoy Bloody Rose by Nicholas Eames. Kings of the Wyld was one of my favorite books last year. Hopefully, I'll feel the same about this

Finished that one, good entertaining read. But did I miss a chapter or does Michael come more or less out of the blue?

He does indeed. That was the most jarring introduction ever. I also thought I missed something.

You're in for the whole series now I guess. Grave Peril was interesting enough for me to give Summer Knight a chance, and after that I was hooked. Grave Peril is also very important to the whole plot, which, I guess, you'll notice down the road.

Thanks for the info. At first I thought I missed something, I even got back to Fool Moon to see if he was mentioned there. Then I thought there will be a flashback in the coming chapters, but nothing. Strange to not really introduce such a major character for the book.

And I will definitely read more Dresden books. Summer Knight is on my shopping list already.

Finished HP4, and i really enjoyed it. I only read the last 2 books as the movies were coming out back in day,  so this new territory for me. A nicely entertaining series,  although Azkaban was meh.

Back to Mark Lawrence with King of Thorns which I finally bought with the third book too, I guess I'm committed now.

Better than the first one, still not sure the whole thing is up my alley though. It kind of reminds me of The First Law trilogy by Joe Abercrombie. I can't precisely say I like it, but it keeps me interested and invested enough that I don't mind following the story. I liked the whole box plot, added some needed dramatic tension.

Now that New Year is coming I feel the urge to reread The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson for the third time, always a pleasure to do that.

Two five star Anthony Horowitz books book end my year (Magpie Murders at the beginning of the year and the James Bond book at the end). If you're a Bond fan, I highly recommend it. Now, for some ASOIAF history with The World of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin

The other night Jim Butcher posted a Dresden short story.

SPOILER WARNING
If you're not up to date with the Dresden files there are huge spoilers in this little tale...and even a partial/implied spoiler on a book yet to be released.

Otherwise, enjoy.

The first half was really good, but the quality dropped off a bit in the second half, but it did get me excited to read the first book of Fire and Blood sooner, rather than later. Might even be the first book I read in the new year.

Anyway, going to try to squeeze in one more book before year's end with Only Time Will Tell by Jeffrey Archer
