Use of Force by Brad Thor.

Also, i finally finished Harry Potter en français.  The reading
pace picked up as i went, but damn was that slow.

***Dark Tower Spoliers Ahead***

On my first read through in 2016 i didn't like 6 at all, and thought 7 had some issues throughout with a garbage ending. Both were better the 2nd time through.

My biggest disappointments were the fate of the wizard's rainbow and Mordred. As mentioned by Evermind, it felt like Mordred was merely a plot device instead of what could have been a truly riveting character.  Although,  to be fair, on the reread i did feel some sympathy for him when he was alone in the cold.

The whole scene at the Red Castle was awful. It became worse when you find out the Crimson King simply smashed all the balls. What the hell kind of crap is that? I was hoping to see them in action along the way after having pink and black introduced in books 4 and 5, respectively.

On my reread i just tried to enjoy the journey, and focus less onthe ending. The shitty, shitty ending. The next time i read them I'll likely skip Gunslinger altogether, and might stop book 7 after Algul Siento. Maybe after Roland and susannah escape from under castle discordia. That scene is pretty good.

All good points. I'm not sure if I'll ever reread the series, but I'm pretty sure I'll reread at least Wizard and Glass at some point.

Finished Half a King by Joe Abercrombie, I liked the YA-nature of it and the lighter story after all the dark shit in his First Law universe. Guess I'm not much into grimdark. This review from goodreads for one of his First Law universe books is hilarious though.

Following with Half a World by the same author.

How many people like to use Audiobooks instead of paper books?

I love to read, but am extremely slow at it and scatterbrained. And because of this, I haven't read a paper book in over a decade. But now that I've started using audiobooks, the amount of books I am consuming is through the roof.

Any one else dig audiobooks?

I have the opposite problem, I can't stay focused with audiobooks. My mind wanders, I lose track of a phrase, it happens again, I lose focus on the plot, and it spirals down from there.

Yeah, I can't do audio books for the same reason. The Twain thing didn't go as expected. Next time, will find something a little less meticulous. Now, going back to fiction with The Bar Harbor Retirement Home for Famous Writers (And Their Muses) by Terri-Lynne DeFino

The Road by Cormac McCarthy

Re: audiobooks: I too lose concentration by just listening for a longer time. And additionally, I like reading in bed before I go to sleep. With audiobooks I fall asleep while the story goes on and the next day I don't know where I was and where I have to continue.

As a big fan of King, I would say The Tommyknockers is toward the bottom of my list in terms of his novels. It's been so long since I read it that it would be tough for me to explain why. I do recall the payoff being underwhelming and unsatisfying, especially for an only moderately entertaining 600-700 pages or however long it is. And upon finishing the book felt like it was more a waste of my time than an enjoyable experience. Which again, rarely happens with me and a King novel.

Just finished The Midnight Line. Not as enjoyable as most other Lee Child books, but I haven't read one of his in a while so it was nice to check up on Reacher after a long absence. I think I am all caught up on his novels now. googles.... goddamn he has a new one out. Slow down Lee!

That was me exactly. It actually put me off King books for almost a decade.

Currently reading Bruce Dickinson's autobiography, What Does this Button Do?

Problem is, I've not finished the book yet and tonight I see Iron Maiden so I'm afraid I will get some spoilers for how the book ends.

Reading the sequel The Fifth Empire of Man by Robert J. Hayes. Really enjoyed the first book, kind of had a Pirates of a Caribbean feel to it, except much darker

So, The Shattered Sea trilogy by Joe Abercrombie was pretty good, even though there were some obvious YA traits. I still liked it a lot.

Currently about 300 pages into The Magicians by Lev Grossman and I'm debating if I should simply put it on my DNF shelf. Maybe I'm missing something, but it seems like this book goes nowhere so far. I will probably finish it anyway as I'm now more than halfway in, but I doubt I'll be reading the second book anytime soon.

Damn good series, just got to finish the last book, been very lazy with my reading lately :lol.
Haven't finished Fahrenheit, been reading it on and off for a few months now, and it's a very short book.

Now on Robert Bryndzik's Night Stalker.

Really enjoyed that one (after all, I did finish it in a little over a day, and considering it's almost 500 pages, that's saying a lot)

That's a good one.  Not quite as good as some of his early work, such as Lamb or Lust Lizard, but still a good read.

I hated to DNF the Moore book, because I like most of his stuff, but that last book was not for me. On to one of my most anticipated books of the year, Circe by Madeline Miller. I'm a big fan of mythology and retellings of mythical stories. I love The Odyssey, and the Circe section was always one of my favorite parts, so I hope this book doesn't suck

On to Farenheit 451 by Bradbury.

On a somewhat unrelated note, here's a peek at my Dark Tower tattoo. It's about 2/3rds done as of yesterday
