Mike Bossy's Autobiography. Written a year after retired.

Good read. I think he would have set records Gretzky couldn't have broken if he'd kept on playing.
Take care everyone - Bet you all didn't even notice I was gone.

Regarding The Stand, and King in general, are we talking about being disappointed/underwhelmed at the climax, the denouement, or the coda (in the newer version)?

In The Stand for me it's not the ending per se but how it came to be that's disappointing. Won't go into to much detail 'cause I won't spoil it for ozzy554. The coda was okay and the build up was well done.

That's awesome. I know basic HTML and CSS from when I did my website. Programming is something I want to learn more of someday.

Bag of Bones by Stephen King. I'm about halfway through, it's pretty good so far.

Bag of Bones is in my top 5 King novels. For whatever reason, it is one that really touched me and resonated with me. It is a beautiful novel.

The Clive Barker journey continues. Just started Galilee.

Bag of Bones was good but I think it was longer than it needed to be. Don't watch the movie.

I read a lot more yesterday and it's shaping up to be in my top 5, yes. It's really great. Funny, I got it for my birthday but I'd never heard the title before, and I've read most of SK's books by now.

I read Bag Of Bones some time ago and I don't remember every detail but, while certainly enjoyable, I wouldn't rate it that high. I felt it was a little bit King by the numbers.

I read a lot of Barker's books a while back, and I honestly don't know why I kept up with them, since I only moderately enjoyed them at best. Maybe they are too "out there" for me. I recall seeing something like Galilee is a perfect "summertime in a hammock with a glass of lemonade" book. It is a relaxing read. I just didn't find the story that engaging.

That's where I'm at but I'm almost done so I'm not going to quit now.  ;)

Also, just read that Stephen King is coming to my home town in June! Very excited to hopefully get to meet him.

Bag of Bones is a fantastic book.

The Stand is also fantastic.  Nothing disappointing about that ending or coda for me.  One of my favorite books of all time (both versions).

Am I the only one who read the original edit of The Stand, before the longer, unexpurgated version was published?  I think the longer one is the only one currently being published, IIRC.

Currently reading Everything's Eventual by Stephen King.
Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

No, I read The Stand for the first time about 25 years ago. I later read the extended version and really enjoyed the changes.

And for the record, I also think The Stand is fantastic, but there's one little thing that irks me and that King could have done different.

I read it at uni. Wasn't a big fan. But I can kinda see why it's considered a classic. Some aspects of the plot were interesting to see in such an old novel.

I got halfway through Bill Bryson's Short History of Nearly Everything, took a break to read a few Animorphs, and I can't fucking stop. Reading the "David trilogy" now.

So far, it's nowhere near as captivating as Wuthering Heights

So got bored with Dracula, and read the rest of the plot on wiki. Well, I was about to begin the most interesting part  :lol

But honestly, the writing I couldn't stand it - way too dramatic for my tastes. Ugh.

So I started The Gunslinger. About halfway through and it's both awesome and very confusing :P

I have read Dracula a couple times over the years. I found it plodding in places (how many transfusions do we need to go through?) but largely enjoyable.

Remember that The Gunslinger is a more of a collection of stories written over time than a single narrative, so that is why it can feel disjointed. It is pretty different from the rest of the saga too, serving as more of a prologue.

For really dull writing, try Frankenstein.
